Building Services – Senior Mechanical Services Engineer

Position overview:
The role of a Senior Mechanical (HVAC) Engineer is integral to delivering high-performance and innovative workplace environments for our clients. We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 8+ years of experience in building services design, with strong expertise in HVAC systems and coordination within multidisciplinary teams.
The candidate will lead and coordinate internal and cross-regional project teams across all design stages, ensuring seamless integration of MEP systems with architectural and interior design intent. A key focus will be on maintaining design quality, driving sustainable solutions and mitigating potential challenges during construction.
As a Senior Mechanical Services Engineer, you will be responsible for managing multiple projects simultaneously, overseeing day-to-day engineering design activities and ensuring successful project delivery aligned with client expectations and global standards.
Responsibilities:
- Concept & Detailed Design Development – Lead and support design development by performing detailed cooling load calculations, equipment sizing and preparation of schematic and detailed HVAC layouts across all project stages..
- Cross-Regional Project Coordination – Collaborate with global engineering teams across regions to define project scope, ensure design consistency and support BIM/Revit coordination.
- Regulatory & Code Compliance – Ensure designs comply with local codes and international standards (ASHRAE, NBC, CIBSE etc.), along with sustainability frameworks such as LEED, WELL, BREEAM and IGBC / USGBC.
- Sustainability & Energy Efficiency – Integrate energy-efficient HVAC and plumbing solutions, perform thermal and energy modeling and support sustainability goals such as low-carbon building strategies.
- Site Supervision & Construction Support – Provide technical support during construction, review site progress, resolve design issues and ensure adherence to design intent.
- Risk & Quality Management – Identify design risks, ensure quality control and implement mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
- Client & Stakeholder Engagement – Engage with clients, architects and consultants through presentations and technical discussions, ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Financial & Commnercial Support – Assist in BOQ preparation, vendor evaluation and value engineering to optimize project cost without compromising design quality.
- Innovation & Emerging Technologies – Stay updated with evolving HVAC technologies, smart building systems and digital tools, integrating them into project delivery.
- Mentorship & Leadership – Mentor junior engineers, provide technical guidance and contribute to team development and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications & Key Competencies
Technical Expertise:
- Minimum 8+ years of experience specializing in mechanical engineering services within the building design and construction field.
- Strong understanding of MEP system design and integration with other disciplines including architecture & Structure.
- Experience in developing and reviewing of Design Brief Reports (DBR's), detailed design documentation and scope gap analyses.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and sustainable building technologies.
- Familiarity with BIM and Revit MEP coordination, ensuring seamless integration of MEP disciplines.
- Experience with cooling load calculations and energy modeling tools (HAP, IES, etc.)
- knowledge of relevant codes and standards in North America, Europe and other key regions (e.g., ASHRAE, CIBSE, BS, NFPA).
- Understanding of LEED, WELL and other sustainability frameworks.
- Ability to conduct code compliance assessments and technical due diligence reports.
Project & Team Leadership:
- Experience in managerial or supervisory roles, leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to mentor and train junior engineers, fostering knowledge-sharing and skills development.
- Strong project management skills, ensuring delivery of high-quality engineering solutions within budget and schedule.
Software & Digital Tools Proficiency:
- Familier with AutoCAD, Navisworks and Revit MEP & Bluebeam softwares (desired),
- Skilled in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting and technical documentation.
- Familiar with AI tools.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Membership with professional bodies such as CIBSE, ASHRAE or equivalent.
