Role Overview
Riverbed is seeking a Senior Manager Site Controller to provide hands-on financial leadership and operational oversight for its offshore finance organization based in Bangalore, India. This role will manage and develop a team of approximately 10-15 finance professionals supporting global finance functions, including Controllership/Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, FP&A, and Tax resources in India.
The Senior Manager Site Controller will serve as the primary finance leader for the India finance center, ensuring high-quality financial operations, strong US GAAP compliance, effective internal controls, and close coordination with US-based finance leadership and external partners and 3rd party vendors out of India Finance Operations. Candidate is expected to work full time on-site in Riverbed Bangalore office.
Key Responsibilities:
Finance Leadership & Governance
- Act as the site finance lead for Riverbed's Bangalore finance operations, providing oversight across accounting and finance activities.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP, company accounting policies, and internal control requirements.
- Partner closely with the Head of Accounting (USA) to execute global accounting and finance strategies.
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of financial outputs delivered by the offshore team.
Team Management & Development:
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of 10-15 offshore resources across Accounting/Controllership, AP, AR, FP&A, and Tax sun-functions and resources
- Drive performance management, capability building, and career development within the finance organization.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Accounting Operations & Close:
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes executed in India, ensuring adherence to close calendars and quality standards.
- Review key journal entries, account reconciliations, and balance sheet substantiation.
- Act as an escalation point for complex accounting matters and operational issues.
Systems, Tools & Process Excellence:
- Provide functional leadership for NetSuite ERP, ensuring effective utilization, data integrity, and alignment with global finance processes.
- Work closely with teams supporting adjacent finance systems and tools, including but not limited to payroll and benefits systems, Salesforce (revenue-related processes), and other finance applications such as Concur
- Drive process standardization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives across offshore finance operations as per Finance leadership requirements
- Partner with IT, Finance Systems, and Global Process Owners on system enhancements and integrations.
Third-Party Vendor & Partner Management:
- Oversee and coordinate with third-party vendors and outsourcing partners including their resources supporting finance activities (e.g., AP and AR processing, payroll, tax, or compliance services).
- Ensure vendor performance meets defined service levels, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
- Act as a key liaison between Riverbed finance leadership in USA and external service providers in India
Stakeholder & Audit Support:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for US-based finance leadership, auditors, tax advisors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Support internal and external audits by ensuring readiness, high-quality documentation, and timely issue resolution.
- Enable effective communication and collaboration across onshore and offshore teams.
Required Qualifications:
- 12 - 15 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with strong exposure to controllership and shared services environments.
- Demonstrated experience managing offshore or shared services finance teams in a global organization.
- Strong US GAAP accounting expertise.
- Hands-on NetSuite experience in an accounting or controllership role (mandatory).
- Experience working with third-party vendors and finance outsourcing partners.
- Exposure to multiple enterprise systems, including payroll and benefits platforms, Salesforce, and related finance tools.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CA / CPA / CMA preferred.
