We are looking for a Senior Database Administrator with expert-level command of MariaDB and strong experience in OLAP systems (ClickHouse preferred). In this role, you will take full ownership of the database lifecycle from installation and configuration in diverse environments (Customer Data Centers and Cloud) to setting up replication, automation, and disaster recovery strategies.
Responsibilities
- Core Database Administration: Administer, support, and maintain enterprise database systems with a primary focus on MariaDB.
- OLAP Management: Manage OLAP workloads. While ClickHouse is our primary tool, experience administering similar columnar or analytical databases is acceptable.
- Deployment and Configuration: Lead the installation, configuration, and provisioning of database clusters across various environments, including cloud and Customer Data Centers (On-Premise).
- High Availability and DR: Design and implement robust strategies for replication, failover, backup, and disaster recovery to ensure business continuity.
- Performance Tuning: Proactively monitor database health/availability using Prometheus and Grafana. Perform query optimization, indexing, and resource configuration to ensure low latency and high throughput.
- Automation: Automate routine database administration tasks, installation workflows, and configuration management using scripting (Bash/Python) and automation tools.
- Security: Implement and maintain database security controls, including hardening, role-based access management, auditing, and encryption standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with development, infrastructure, and platform teams to improve reliability, scalability, and schema design.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, operational procedures, and database standards.
Requirements
- Experience: 5-8 years of hands-on experience in database administration.
- MariaDB/MySQL Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of MariaDB architecture, internals, replication, and performance tuning is mandatory.
- OLAP Knowledge: Solid experience with OLAP/Columnar databases (e. g., ClickHouse, Druid, Snowflake, or Vertica).
- Specific expertise in ClickHouse is a major plus.
- Infrastructure and Deployment: Proven experience installing and configuring databases in hybrid environments (Customer DCsand Cloud).
- Observability: Proficiency with monitoring tools, specifically Prometheus and Grafana.
- Redis: Working knowledge of Redis for caching and persistence.
- Disaster Recovery: Deep understanding of backup strategies, point-in-time recovery, and replication topologies.
Nice To Have
- ClickHouse Expertise: Hands-on experience specifically with ClickHouse cluster operations, sharding, and ZooKeeper integration.
- IaC Tools: Familiarity with Ansible, Terraform, or Chef for configuration management.
- Automation: Strong scripting skills in Bash and/or Python for automating installation and maintenance tasks.
