Job Summary
We are seeking a versatile and creative Content Writer with deep-rooted experience in the insurance sector to join our growing marketing and communications team. In this cross-functional role, you will collaborate with multiple teamsincluding digital marketing, branding, SEO, underwriter and social mediato craft high-impact content that educates, engages, and converts audiences. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, blending industry expertise with innovative tools to produce authentic, human-centred narratives that resonate with policyholders, partners, and prospects.
This is a full-time position based in Mumbai, reporting to the Head of Digital Technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Website Content Creation: Develop high-quality, informative articles, blogs, guides, and product descriptions for our website, ensuring clarity, accuracy, alignment with insurance regulations and landing page copy designed to rank on Google while providing genuine value to policyholders & best practices.
- Branding Initiatives: Collaborate with the branding team to create compelling brand stories, case studies, and thought leadership pieces that reinforce Universal Sompo's position as a trusted industry leader.
- Social Media Content: Produce tailored content for platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter (X), Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, including posts, threads, infographics, and video scripts that build community and amplify campaigns.
- Underwriting Collaboration: Produce tailored content such as policy summaries, risk assessment explainers, and internal training materials to empower underwriters and streamline decision-making.
- Caption and Short-Form Writing: Craft engaging, concise captions, email newsletters, and promotional snippets that capture attention and encourage action.
- AI-Enhanced Content Production: Leverage AI tools (e.g., for ideation, research, or initial drafts) to streamline workflows, while meticulously editing and refining outputs to ensure 100% human-like qualityfree from detectable AI patterns, with natural tone, nuance, and originality.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work seamlessly with sales, product, compliance, and customer service teams to align content with business goals, gather insights, and iterate based on performance metrics.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure all content adheres to IRDAI guidelines, data privacy standards, and Universal Sompo's voice and tone, while upholding editorial excellence.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience: 5-7 years of professional content writing experience, with at least a year specifically in the insurance or financial services sector (e.g., general insurance, health, or motor lines).
- Skills:
oExceptional writing and editing skills, with a proven ability to adapt tone for diverse audiences (e.g., technical for B2B, empathetic for consumers).
oStrong understanding of insurance terminology, products, and trends to create authoritative, trustworthy content.
oFamiliarity with AI content tools (e.g., Grammarly AI, Jasper) and techniques to humanise outputs, ensuring undetectable, authentic results.
oAbility to switch from the serious and technical tone required by underwriters to the engaging and witty tone needed for social media captions.
- Soft Skills: Collaborative mindset, deadline-driven, creative problem-solver with keen attention to detail and a passion for storytelling in fintech/Insurtech.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing content calendars
- Portfolio showcasing insurance-related work, including SEO-optimised blogs and social campaigns with measurable impact (e.g., increased traffic or engagement).
- Knowledge of regional languages for localised content.
