Senior Backend Developer

Job Summary 

• We are looking for a thoughtful, adaptive Senior Backend Developer with a growth mindset to build scalable and reliable backend features. You will work closely with product and client development teams to create dynamic applications and deliver high-performance server-side solutions. While Ruby on Rails is preferred, equivalent backend experience is acceptable. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Build scalable and highly reliable product features. 
• Work with client developers to architect high-throughput systems. 
• Conduct code and design reviews to ensure high-quality deliverables. 
• Write and maintain technical documentation and process workflows. 
• Collaborate through pair/mob programming to share knowledge and improve solutions. 
• Communicate with Engineering Managers and Product Owners to define and prioritize work. 
• Continuously improve product and platform by identifying technical or process inefficiencies. 
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical planning. 

Requirements 

• 3+ years of experience in Ruby or similar dynamic scripting languages. 
• 3+ years of experience in Ruby on Rails or a similar web framework. 
• Experience with templating frameworks like Haml or ERB. 
• Familiarity with TDD/BDD frameworks such as RSpec and Cucumber. 
• Strong understanding of MySQL and relational database design. 
• Proficient in RESTful API design and implementation. 
• Experience with Git version control. 
• Strong technical leadership skills with the ability to clarify ambiguous requirements. 
• Disciplined approach to testing and quality assurance. 
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in collaborative environments. 

Nice to Have:

• Experience with GraphQL. 
• Experience with AWS Lambda and the Serverless Framework. 
• Familiarity with Docker and/or Kubernetes. 
• Experience with React or React Native. 
• Passion for mentoring and skill-sharing within the team. 
• A strong continuous learning mindset and interest in tech trends. 
• Ability to evaluate trade-offs between speed and quality to meet business goals.
