How will you make an impact in this role
Digital acquisition is one of Amex's top priorities. Core to delivering on this priority are onboarding and acquisition experiences that enable users to apply for our products with minimal amount of effort, wherever and however they choose.

We are looking for a passionate, talented, and adaptable strategic product owner to own the onboarding journeys for international markets. In this role, you will help reduce friction in the onboarding process while ensuring compliance with the complex regulatory requirements in each country to protect against fraud and other criminal activities.

You will be responsible for:
Understanding and learning about our users needs, both customers and internal teams
Working with engineers on a day-to-day basis to execute requirements during the development process.
Translating requirements into coherent user stories using agile tools and methods. Lead the Agile product development process (Lean, SAFe, Kanban) including writing and refining features and user stories, documenting customer and technical flows, and validating software functionality
Driving delivery by trouble-shooting issues, de-mystifying complex needs, and leading planning cycles in partnership with your leader and agile champions
Delivering the product roadmap in collaboration with market & engineering functions, often coordinating with other delivery teams
Perform research to continuously identify opportunities and develop innovative solutions across consumer and small business segments
Supporting & collaborating with local market teams to stay on top of market developments & the competition
Maintaining product features & capabilities backlog
Continually stay abreast of new digital platform trends and customer needs and the changing regulatory, competitive, and technological landscape

Preferred Qualifications
2-3 years of experience as a product owner
Proficient at investigating customer needs and problems
Robust knowledge of software architectural patterns, systems integration, APIs
Understanding of software performance monitoring and analytics
Strong ability to analyze user experience metrics and other data to determine priorities, opportunities, and issues with product
Ability to define and improve processes
Strong collaboration & relationship skills we are a relationship-oriented company, that values diverse perspectives. You will be the evangelist for the strategy and roadmap but won't be successful without bringing others along with you. Your ability to listen deeply, contextualise your insights are essential to achieving the best outcomes.
In-depth knowledge of Agile processes and principles: backlog refinement, sprint planning, writing user stories, MVP, sprint demos
Experience in dealing with ambiguity/unstructured problems, simplifying complex problems, ability to use risk based decisioning frameworks, and influencing teams and stakeholders to drive desired outcomes
Excellent oral and written communication skills; Ability to effectively communicate across stakeholders.
Ability to build positive relationships, and influence decisions with a variety of cross-functional stakeholders
Proven ability to manage change in dynamic, ambiguous environment, and ability to influence without direct authority among peers and with leaders
Deep understanding of the acquisitions & onboarding process
