Role Overview
We are hiring a Senior Accountant with strong experience in Australian taxation and accounting to support a leading accounting firm.
This is a high-responsibility role requiring accuracy, ownership, and the ability to independently manage complex client structures. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with Australian accounting firms and demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, particularly in financial reporting and tax compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review Australian tax returns for companies, trusts, and individuals
- Handle business financials and tax filings across complex entity structures
- Manage inter-group transactions and relationships across multiple entities
- Work on Division 7A compliance and reporting
- Prepare draft financial statements with clear assumptions and adjustments
- Handle Capital Gains Tax (CGT) calculations for businesses, investment properties, and asset disposals
- Perform bookkeeping tasks including payroll, BAS, and reconciliations using Xero
- Review junior accountants work (tax returns, financials, reconciliations)
- Independently manage workflows and meet deadlines with high accuracy
Key Requirements
- Minimum 4+ years of experience with Australian accounting and taxation
- Strong experience in Australian tax returns (companies, trusts, individuals)
- Proficiency in Xero, BAS, payroll, and bookkeeping
- Solid understanding of Division 7A and CGT
- Experience handling multi-entity/group structures and intercompany transactions
- High attention to detail with strong self-reviewing habits
- Ability to work independently and take full ownership of tasks
- Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal)
