SAP ABAP Consultant

Key Responsibilities

• ABAP Development:
• Design, develop, and maintain custom ABAP programs and applications, including both classical and object-oriented programming.
• Perform performance optimization and debugging for ABAP code.
• OData Services:
• Develop and enhance OData services to expose SAP data to external applications or front-end systems (e.g., Fiori applications, third-party applications).
• Core Data Services (CDS):
• Create and maintain CDS views for efficient and scalable data models for reporting and transactional applications.
• AMDP Development:
• Implement and optimize ABAP Managed Database Procedures (AMDP) for performance-critical operations using HANA database features for high-performance data processing.
• Integration with SAP Fiori/S/4HANA:
• Work on the integration of ABAP-based solutions with SAP Fiori front-end applications, leveraging OData and CDS views.
• Performance Tuning:
• Ensure optimal performance of ABAP code, OData services, and CDS views by debugging, analyzing, and fine-tuning them to meet performance requirements.
• Collaboration:
• Work with functional consultants to gather requirements and design solutions.
• Collaborate with other developers to implement enhancements, fixes, and optimizations.
• Testing and Documentation:
• Conduct unit testing and support integration testing.
• Provide clear and detailed technical documentation for developed solutions, including code, configuration, and deployment instructions.
• Support & Troubleshooting:
• Provide support for production systems, troubleshooting issues, and providing timely resolutions for system errors, performance issues, or other technical challenges.

Experience

• 4-6 years of hands-on experience in ABAP development with specific expertise in OData, CDS, and AMDP.
• Experience in SAP S/4HANA or SAP ECC environments.
• Strong understanding of SAP NetWeaver Gateway for developing OData services.
• Proven experience with HANA-based developments and using AMDP to optimize database operations.

Skills

• Proficiency in ABAP (both classical and object-oriented).
• In-depth experience with OData services and integration with Fiori applications.
• Strong knowledge of Core Data Services (CDS) and creating custom CDS views for transactional and reporting purposes.
• Expertise in AMDP (ABAP Managed Database Procedures) for performance optimization.
• Understanding of SAP HANA database, HANA-specific SQL, and database modeling.
• Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA, SAP Fiori, and UI5 integration.
• Knowledge of IDOCs, BAPIs, RFCs, and other integration techniques is an advantage.
• Strong debugging and performance tuning skills.
• Good understanding of Agile methodologies.

Preferred Skills

• SAP certifications in ABAP or SAP HANA.
• Experience working with Fiori/UI5 applications and SAP Cloud Platform.
• Knowledge of SAP BW/4HANA or SAP Analytics Cloud is a plus.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern development tools.
