Our client, a global healthcare company, is looking for an SAP ABAP Consultant who will design, build, and maintain cloud-ready ABAP solutions on SAP S/4HANA and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). The role focuses on developing clean-corecompliant extensions using ABAP Cloud, RAP, and modern development practices, while integrating securely with SAP and non-SAP systems in a regulated healthcare environment. The developer will work closely with functional teams, architects, and integration/security stakeholders across the full development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- ABAP Cloud Development & Design:
Design and develop clean-corecompliant ABAP Cloud solutions using ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP), CDS views, behavior definitions, and service bindings
- Application & Extension Development:
Build side-by-side and in-app extensions on S/4HANA and SAP BTP using ABAP Cloud, ensuring upgrade-safe, extensible, and scalable solutions
- Data Modeling & Services:
Develop CDS-based data models and expose OData services (V2/V4) for consumption by SAP Fiori, SAP BTP applications, and external systems
- Integration & APIs:
Collaborate with integration teams to enable APIs, events, and service-based communication with SAP Integration Suite, CPI, and external platforms
- Security & Compliance:
Implement authorization concepts, role-based access, and audit-compliant logic aligned with healthcare regulations (GxP / 21 CFR Part 11, data integrity, privacy)
- Performance & Quality:
Apply ABAP Test Cockpit (ATC), Code Inspector, and cloud readiness checks; ensure performance optimization and adherence to SAP clean-core guidelines
- Lifecycle & Delivery:
Participate in full development lifecycle including requirements analysis, technical design (HLD/LLD), development, unit testing, transport management, and hyper-care support
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with functional consultants, integration developers, and architects to align backend logic with business processes and end-to-end solution design
Requirements
- 58+ years of SAP ABAP experience with 3-5 years hands-on development using ABAP Cloud and S/4HANA
- Strong expertise in RAP (RESTful ABAP Programming Model), CDS views, behavior definitions, and service exposure
- Experience developing clean-corecompliant in-app and side-by-side extensions
- Proficiency in OData (V2/V4) services and backend enablement for SAP Fiori applications
- Solid understanding of S/4HANA extensibility, ABAP cloud restrictions, and SAP-recommended development patterns
- Experience working with SAP BTP (ABAP Environment/Steampunk, destinations, connectivity concepts)
- Knowledge of authorization concepts, roles, and security design in cloud-based ABAP applications
- Strong debugging, performance tuning, and code quality practices using ATC and cloud readiness tools
- Familiarity with CI/CD, Git-based version control, and Agile delivery methodologies
- Exposure to integration scenarios with CPI/Integration Suite and API-based architectures
- Prior experience in healthcare or life sciences environments with awareness of validation (CSV/CSA) requirements is a strong plus
- Excellent documentation, communication, and collaboration skills in multi-team programs
