Location: Chennai

Hands-on Expectation: 70% QA execution | 30% QA leadership

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented QA Lead to manage and oversee the quality assurance process with a focus on manual testing. The QA Lead will ensure that our products meet the highest standards of quality by developing and executing comprehensive test plans and collaborating with cross-functional teams. While automation is part of our process, this role emphasizes manual testing to ensure thorough, exploratory, and user focused testing for all products.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead QA Team: Manage and mentor a team of QA engineers, focusing on manual testing methodologies, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.

Manual Testing Execution: Define and implement comprehensive manual testing strategies, ensuring rigorous test case creation, execution, and defect identification.

Test Case Management: Lead the development, review, and execution of detailed manual test cases, ensuring complete test coverage across all product functionalities and user scenarios.

Exploratory Testing: Oversee and promote exploratory testing efforts, identifying edge cases and potential issues that automated tests may miss.

Collaboration: Work closely with development, product, and support teams to ensure high product quality, engaging in early feature design discussions to influence testability.

Defect Tracking & Reporting: Accurately log, track, and report defects, collaborating with developers and stakeholders to prioritize and resolve issues efficiently.

Release Management: Lead the QA effort during release cycles, ensuring all testing activities are completed and sign-off on product readiness before release.

Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve QA processes and manual testing methodologies to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the QA team.

Quality Metrics: Monitor and report key quality metrics to stakeholders, providing insights on testing progress and product quality.

Key Requirements:

Experience:

  • Proven experience as a QA Lead or in a senior QA role, with a minimum of 5+ years in software quality assurance.
  • Strong experience in manual testing practices, including functional, exploratory, regression, and usability testing.

Leadership:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor QA teams, with a focus on developing manual testing skills.
  • Experience coordinating QA activities in multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring alignment with project goals.

Analytical Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail, able to identify issues that may not be immediately obvious.

Collaboration:

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with development teams, product management, and other stakeholders.

Agile Experience:

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, with an understanding of how to adapt manual testing processes to fit iterative development cycles.

Nice to Have:

Good knowledge of automation tools and frameworks to complement manual testing efforts.

Hands-on experience with test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, JUnit, TestNG, etc.)..

Familiarity with tools for tracking and managing test cases and defects (e.g., JIRA, TestRail).

Experience testing web-based and mobile applications.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
