Quality Assurance Automation Engineer

Role: Automation QA Engineer

Duration: 6 Months start with possibility for extension

100% remote role (India)

CET time zone (2 PM IST to 11 PM IST)

We are seeking a strong Automation QA Engineer that supports Point of Sale (POS) systems and backend integrations. This role focuses heavily on process and test automation, with a key objective of building automation frameworks from the ground up where none currently exist.

The ideal candidate is proactive, hands-on, and able to ramp up quickly with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain test automation frameworks using Playwright and JavaScript
• Automate existing manual testing procedures, including POS and backend workflows
• Perform API testing and validation using Postman
• Execute owner testing across POS, AS400, and integrated systems
• Work with JIRA for test tracking, defect management, and reporting
• Contribute to both web and mobile application testing efforts
• Identify automation opportunities and drive process improvements
• Support testing across AS400 (middleware) systems and POS platforms
• Participate in screening exercises and provide real-world testing scenarios

Must-Have Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in QA Automation

Strong hands-on experience with:

• JavaScript
• Playwright (test automation)
• API testing using Postman
• Experience working with POS systems (any industry)
• Solid understanding of test automation principles and frameworks
• Experience with JIRA or similar test/defect tracking tools
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Experience with web browser-based testing

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Experience with AS400 systems or legacy/middleware platforms
• Exposure to mobile application testing and automation
• Experience automating end-to-end business processes
• Background in both manual and automated testing
• Ability to help define and shape the right testing/automation strategy
• Experience building automation frameworks from scratch (no existing scripts)
