Job Description

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced and commercially sharp Purchase Manager to lead the procurement function. This is a critical role responsible for ensuring uninterrupted supply of raw materials, packaging materials, and indirect supplies across manufacturing operations at the right quality, cost, and time. The ideal candidate will possess strong vendor management capabilities, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to establish scalable procurement systems that support business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end procurement process for raw materials, packaging materials, chemicals, and indirect supplies across manufacturing units.
  • Develop and implement category-wise sourcing strategies to optimize cost, quality, and supply continuity.
  • Identify, evaluate, qualify, and onboard new vendors while maintaining a healthy and competitive supplier base.
  • Lead commercial negotiations with suppliers on pricing, payment terms, lead times, and service levels.
  • Monitor vendor performance through regular reviews focusing on quality compliance, on-time delivery, and responsiveness.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D, Production, and Quality teams to ensure raw material specifications and business requirements are met.
  • Manage purchase orders, GRN reconciliation, and coordinate with the Finance team on invoice processing and payment cycles.
  • Track commodity price movements and proactively manage cost risks through alternate sourcing and forward planning.
  • Develop and maintain procurement MIS, including spend analysis, vendor scorecards, and savings trackers.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, approval frameworks, and audit requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to procurement processes, lead times, and working capital efficiency.
  • Support new product development initiatives by sourcing new ingredients, fragrances, actives, and packaging materials as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
  • MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain, Operations, Materials Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 8–12 years of experience in Procurement or Supply Chain Management.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a managerial role.
  • Experience in the Manufacturing industry is strongly preferred.
  • Background in FMCG, Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, or Personal Care industries will be an added advantage.
  • Proven expertise in vendor development, commercial negotiations, and category management.
  • Strong understanding of raw material markets, commodity pricing, and supply chain risk management.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Tally, along with Advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
