DiamondXE is seeking an expert Purchase Manager to lead our procurement operations in Mumbai. The ideal candidate will have an impeccable eye for quality, a deep network of suppliers, and a sharp mind for market fluctuations.
The RoleThis is a full-time, on-site leadership position. You will be responsible for sourcing natural and lab-grown diamonds and gemstones, ensuring they meet DiamondXE's rigorous standards of quality and ethical sourcing while maintaining optimal inventory levels.
Key Responsibilities- Sourcing & Procurement: Source loose diamonds (various shapes/sizes) and gemstones from manufacturers and wholesalers at competitive prices.
- Quality Inspection: Physically inspect and verify stones to ensure they match their grading reports (GIA, IGI, HRD) and DiamondXE's internal quality benchmarks.
- Supplier Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with a reliable network of primary suppliers and manufacturers.
- Inventory Control: Manage stock levels to ensure a healthy turnover, preventing overstocking while meeting the demands of our B2B and B2C sales teams.
- Market Analysis: Monitor global price trends (Rapaport) and supply dynamics to make informed, strategic buying decisions.
- Negotiation: Negotiate credit terms, bulk discounts, and buy-back agreements with vendors.
Eligibility criteria- Experience: Minimum 7–10 years in diamond procurement/purchasing. Experience in the Mumbai Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) ecosystem is highly preferred.
- Technical Expertise: Certified Gemologist (GIA/IGI preferred) with expert-level knowledge of the 4Cs, pricing, and assortment.
- Integrity: Unquestionable professional ethics and a reputation for honesty in the trade.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to forecast demand and manage procurement budgets effectively.
- Location: Must be based in Mumbai and willing to travel to manufacturing hubs (e.g., Surat) if required.
