Lead the mechanical design aspects of projects, including layout, system design, and detailed engineering.
Create and review mechanical design documents, including P&IDs, layout drawings, equipment specifications, and material take-offs (MTOs).
Review design calculations and equipment selection to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
Assist in the design of mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, piping, and other utilities, ensuring that all systems are integrated into the overall project.
2. Project Coordination & Management
Coordinate mechanical engineering tasks with other disciplines, including civil, electrical, structural, and process engineering teams.
Support project managers by assisting in the preparation of schedules, resource allocation, and tracking of deliverables.
Ensure that all project activities, including design and procurement, are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
Monitor project progress, ensuring that engineering design meets all milestones and deadlines.
Provide timely updates and status reports to senior management, clients, and stakeholders.
3. Client & Stakeholder Communication
Communicate effectively with clients to gather technical requirements and clarify any design-related issues.
Participate in project review meetings, client interactions, and technical discussions to provide project insights and resolutions.
Address technical queries and issues raised by clients, contractors, or vendors during the execution phase.
4. Quality Control & Compliance
Ensure that mechanical designs comply with relevant industry standards and codes, such as ASME, API, and local regulations.
Review design deliverables for compliance with quality assurance protocols and project specifications.
Assist in the preparation of reports and documentation for technical reviews, client approvals, and inspections.
Coordinate with quality assurance teams to ensure that design and construction meet safety and quality standards.
5. Procurement & Vendor Management
Assist in the preparation of technical specifications and bid evaluations for mechanical equipment and systems.
Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of mechanical equipment, materials, and components.
Review vendor drawings, technical submittals, and purchase orders to ensure that equipment meets project requirements.
6. Risk & Issue Management
Identify and address any risks or issues that may impact the mechanical design aspects of the project.
Work closely with the project manager and engineering teams to resolve challenges and ensure project milestones are achieved.
Support troubleshooting and issue resolution during the installation and commissioning phases.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, with a strong focus on industrial, infrastructure, or commercial projects.
Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license or certification in project management (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
Software Proficiency: Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, and MS Project or Primavera for project management.
