Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will involve Leads a function focused on the optimization of the Production organization's assembly methods, processes, and equipment in cooperation with Production management and Research and Development (R&D).

The work model for the role is: #Li-Onsite.

This role is contributing to the ABB India, Smart Power for Electrification Business in Bangalore Region, India.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Efficiently execute NPD projects in line with gate model, internal procedures, and industry standards to ensure delivery on time, within budget, and with high quality.

  • Timely implementation of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and collaboration with global Agile teams on localization projects, including technical documentation, testing, quality, and safety compliance.

  • Manage product costing for new developments, including contribution margin analysis, and support localization strategies for new product introductions.

  • Identify and implement cost optimization opportunities through alternative materials, process improvements, and continuous performance monitoring against global and local targets.

  • Ensure compliance with product certifications (UL, CE, CCC, CSA, BIS) and uphold ABB values, HSE, integrity, and team development while maintaining audit readiness.

Qualifications for the role:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical & Electronics, Mechanical) with a minimum of 10 years of experience.

  • Extensive experience in New Product Development (NPD) along with practical experience in ERP and PLM systems such as SAP and Windchill.

  • In-depth knowledge of switchgear products including ACB, MCCB, contactors, switches, and relays.

  • Good understanding of manufacturing technologies, production equipment, and tooling processes.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage, mentor, and develop effective engineering teams.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with 2D/3D CAD systems for design and documentation support.

  • Additional certifications such as Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt) and PMP (Project Management Professional).
