About the Company
We are seeking an experienced BI Developer with strong expertise in TIBCO Spotfire and Microsoft Power BI to lead the migration of existing analytics and dashboards from Spotfire to Power BI. The ideal candidate will have deep understanding of data modeling, DAX, Power Query (M), and performance optimization along with experience working in enterprise environments with governed data sources and complex security models.
About the Role
This role will be critical in standardizing visualization platforms, ensuring that migrated reports are functionally equivalent, performant, and aligned to new data governance and semantic model standards.
Responsibilities
- Assessment & Planning
- Analyze existing Spotfire dashboards, data models, and custom scripts to assess migration complexity.
- Document current-state Spotfire data sources, transformations, and calculated fields.
- Define target-state architecture and mapping for Power BI equivalents.
- Migration & Development
- Rebuild Spotfire reports and visualizations in Power BI using DAX and Power Query.
- Develop new Power BI datasets, dataflows, and semantic models using best practices.
- Implement row-level security (RLS), drill-through, bookmarks, and dynamic filtering to match or improve the Spotfire experience.
- Ensure visual parity, functionality, and accuracy between Spotfire and Power BI reports.
- Data Integration
- Connect to on-prem and cloud-based data sources (SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, Synapse, etc.).
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to optimize data pipelines and model refresh performance.
- Validation & Testing
- Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) with business stakeholders.
- Validate report accuracy, filters, metrics, and performance.
- Tune and optimize Power BI performance (data models, visuals, DAX measures).
- Governance & Deployment
- Implement governance standards using Power BI Service (Workspaces, Apps, Row-level Security).
- Manage deployment pipelines and CI/CD integration for Power BI content.
- Provide documentation and handover to operations and business teams.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence and data visualization.
- Hands-on experience with both TIBCO Spotfire and Microsoft Power BI.
- Strong skills in SQL, DAX, and Power Query (M).
- Understanding of data modeling principles (star schema, snowflake, normalization).
- Experience working with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, Synapse, etc.).
- Familiarity with Power BI Service administration, workspace management, and security.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams (data engineering, business, infrastructure).
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
Required Skills
