A Planning Manager in construction oversees the scheduling, resource allocation, and progress monitoring of projects to ensure timely completion within budget. Key responsibilities nclude creating detailed project plans (using tools like MS Project/Primavera P6), managing budgets, identifying risks, and coordinating with stakeholders to resolve delays.

Key Responsibilities

Scheduling & Planning: Develop and maintain detailed, logical, and achievable project schedules (Baseline Schedule, Work Breakdown Structure).

Progress Monitoring: Compare planned vs. actual progress, identify delays, and implement mitigation measures.

Resource Management: Plan and allocate labor, equipment, and materials to ensure efficient site operations.

Reporting: Prepare daily/weekly/monthly progress reports, MIS reports, and, time cycle charts.

Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, site engineers, clients, and contractors to ensure alignment on project goals.

Budgeting & Costing: Monitor project budgets, prestart estimates, and assist in managing cost-effective vendors.

Contractual Compliance: Ensure that project methodologies and changes are documented and in line with contracts.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent; postgraduate in ConstructionManagement is often preferred.

Experience: 6 10 years of experience in construction planning, scheduling, and project controls.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in planning software such as Primavera P6 or MS Project is essential.

Soft Skills: Strong analytical, communication, risk management, and leadership skills.

Typical Qualifications & Experience

Background: Experience in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) would be an added advantage.

Knowledge: Deep understanding of construction methodologies, site logistics, and safety standards.
