About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Developer with a strong focus on PHP to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining critical backend systems that support our AI-driven SaaS platform. Your work will directly impact the stability, security, and scalability of our financial workflows, which are used by large enterprises in the debt recovery space.
This position requires a detail-oriented individual who understands the importance of clean architecture, structured logic, and robust API design. You will collaborate closely with product managers, frontend developers, and other stakeholders to deliver features that are production-ready and meet enterprise standards. The role demands ownership, proactive problem-solving, and a passion for building reliable systems that handle complex, compliance-driven financial processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 3 years of proven backend development experience, particularly with PHP and MySQL.
- Deep understanding of MVC architecture patterns and API-driven backend design principles.
- Experience designing and implementing secure authentication and authorization systems.
- Proficiency in integrating third-party APIs, including payment gateways, with a focus on security and reliability.
- Strong debugging skills and the ability to optimize backend performance.
- Experience working within SaaS or product-based environments, with a focus on scalable solutions.
- Willingness and ability to work during US business hours when necessary.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- A high ownership mindset, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable backend services using PHP that support enterprise-level applications.
- Create and maintain normalized, maintainable MySQL data models aligned with business requirements.
- Develop secure, well-structured REST APIs to facilitate seamless integration with frontend systems and third-party services.
- Refactor legacy codebases into modular, testable components to improve maintainability and performance.
- Integrate third-party APIs and payment gateways securely, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Optimize database queries and backend processing to enhance system performance and reduce latency.
- Handle edge cases and ensure compliance-driven workflows are executed accurately and securely.
- Write comprehensive technical documentation and detailed API specifications for internal and external use.
- Partner with product and frontend teams to deliver features that are production-ready and meet quality standards.
- Own and resolve bugs in production environments, investigating root causes and implementing long-term solutions.
- Contribute to architectural decisions, scalability planning, and system design improvements.
- Maintain high standards of code quality, including adherence to Git workflows and best practices.
