JOB DESCRIPTION SENIOR PERFORMANCE TEST ENGINEER
EXPERIENCE: 7+ Years
LOCATION: Bangalore (Work from Office Mandatory)
NOTICE PERIOD: Immediate to 15 Days
ROLE SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Performance Test Engineer / Performance Testing Architect with strong hands-on expertise in Performance Engineering, Performance Testing, Monitoring, and Benchmarking across enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will define performance strategies, architect testing frameworks, and lead teams in executing large-scale performance initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
PERFORMANCE STRATEGY & ARCHITECTURE
- Define end-to-end Performance Testing and Performance Engineering strategy for complex enterprise programs
- Architect and implement performance test frameworks using industry-standard tools
- Perform workload modeling, SLA/SLO definition, sizing, and capacity planning
TEST EXECUTION & OPTIMIZATION
- Lead execution of Load, Stress, Spike, Endurance, and Scalability tests
- Identify performance bottlenecks, analyze root causes, and recommend optimizations across:
- Application layer
- Infrastructure layer
- Database layer
- Network layer
MONITORING & REPORTING
- Build performance dashboards and reports using APM and monitoring tools such as:
- Dynatrace
- AppDynamics
- Grafana
- Splunk
- Datadog
DEVOPS & AUTOMATION
- Design CI/CD-integrated performance testing pipelines using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, and GitHub Actions
- Implement shift-left performance engineering practices with DevOps and Agile teams
TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP
- Act as a Performance SME for Architects, Developers, SREs, Infrastructure, and Product teams
- Publish performance tuning recommendations and technical guidance to leadership
- Mentor and upskill Performance Test Engineers
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in Performance Testing and Performance Engineering
- Strong expertise in performance testing tools:
- JMeter (Mandatory)
- LoadRunner, NeoLoad, Gatling, k6 (Nice to Have)
- Strong hands-on experience with APM and monitoring tools:
- PerfMon, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Splunk, Datadog
- Experience in tuning:
- Web/Application Servers: WebLogic, Tomcat, JBoss
- JVM
- Databases: PostgreSQL, SQL Server
- Caching, OS, and Network layers
- Strong scripting skills in Python, Shell, Groovy, Java, JavaScript
- Deep understanding of HTTP, REST, WebSockets, and Microservices
- Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Experience in distributed load generation
- Experience with containerized load testing using Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience in CI/CD automation for continuous performance validation
- Ability to analyze GC logs, thread dumps, and perform heap/CPU profiling
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Experience with SRE practices, Chaos Engineering, and Failover testing
- Exposure to Mobile Performance Testing
- Knowledge of OpenTelemetry and cloud-native observability
- Prior Architect or Technical Lead experience
SOFT SKILLS
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Excellent stakeholder management
- Ability to influence design decisions with a performance-first mindset
- Proven capability to lead and coach performance engineering teams
