Position Summary
The Assistant Manager Payroll Specialist will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll operations for a large workforce. The role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while maintaining strong coordination with internal stakeholders and external agencies.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Management
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing on a monthly basis.
- Ensure timely and accurate disbursement of salaries, incentives, bonuses, and reimbursements.
- Handle statutory deductions including PF, ESI, PT, TDS, and other applicable compliances.
- Prepare and validate payroll inputs, attendance, leave, and variable pay data.
- Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies.
- Creation and validation of Salary JV files
Compliance & Statutory
- Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Manage filings and returns related to PF, ESI, PT, TDS, and labor laws.
- Coordinate with auditors and regulatory authorities during audits and inspections.
- Maintain updated knowledge of payroll-related laws and regulations.
Systems & Process Management
- Manage payroll through HRMS/Payroll systems (Darwinbox, or similar platforms).
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity in payroll systems.
- Drive automation and process improvements in payroll operations.
- Prepare MIS reports, dashboards, and management summaries.
Employee Support & Coordination
- Address employee payroll-related queries and grievances in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with HR, Finance, and Operations teams.
- Support onboarding and exit formalities related to payroll and full & final settlements.
- Ensure smooth processing of arrears, revisions, and settlements.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate with payroll vendors and service providers.
- Monitor vendor performance and service quality.
- Ensure confidentiality and data security of employee information.
Work Experience
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, HR, or related field (MBA/PGDM preferred).
- Minimum 610 years of experience in payroll management; Preferred from Manufacturing or Product based industry.
- Proven experience in handling payroll for 1,000+ employees (preferably up to 5,000).
- Strong knowledge of Indian labor laws and statutory compliance.
- Experience working with large organizations, EPC, manufacturing, or infrastructure sectors preferred.
