Location: Remote (India)
A Fortune 200 company is standing up its Global Capability Centre in India and has partnered with Flexiple to build its payroll function from close to scratch. Flexiple is a managed marketplace that helps global companies build high-performing teams and GCCs in India, and this seat is one of the centre's founding payroll hires.
The cycle you'd own
As a Payroll Specialist, you run the monthly payroll cycle end to end for a growing India headcount: inputs, processing, statutory deductions, and the queries that land in your inbox once salaries hit.
Where it currently breaks
- Collect and validate monthly payroll inputs from HR, finance, and business teams
- Process payroll runs accurately and on schedule, including new joiners, exits, and revisions
- Reconcile payroll registers against the general ledger before disbursal
- Resolve employee payroll queries directly, without a long escalation chain
Compliance you'd own
- Ensure PF, ESI, TDS, and professional tax are calculated and deposited correctly and on time
- File monthly and annual statutory returns, and keep documentation audit-ready
- Track changes in payroll-related regulation and update processes accordingly
What you'd bring
Two to six years running payroll processing and statutory compliance in India, ideally across a headcount large enough that no two months look the same. You're precise with numbers, comfortable owning a compliance calendar without reminders, and able to explain a payslip discrepancy to an anxious employee without getting defensive. Working knowledge of a payroll or HRIS system, and clear written and spoken English for cross-team coordination.
Bonus points
- Experience setting up payroll processes fresh, rather than only maintaining an existing one
- Exposure to a large payroll platform such as SAP, ADP, or Darwinbox
- A degree or certification in HR, commerce, or a related field
