Position Purpose

We are searching for a highly skilled Payroll Manager who will be responsible for the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of multi-country payrolls across the Group. The role will also own payroll-related accounting, statutory reporting, reconciliations, and continuous improvement of payroll processes and systems. This position will work closely with external payroll providers, internal Finance, HR, and auditors to ensure payroll integrity and compliance across jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Operations

  • Prepare and process monthly payrolls for India,UK, Cyprus, including new starters, leavers, salary changes, adjustments, bonuses, and one-off payments.
  • Support payroll review for Malaysia and the Philippines (managed by outsource providers)
  • Provide back-up payroll support for Australia, Singapore, Vanuatu and Dubai as required (when the Payroll Manager overseas these countries is on leave).
  • Act as the primary point of contact for group payroll service providers, ensuring service quality, issue resolution, and timely delivery.

Statutory Compliance & Reporting

  • Prepare, submit, and arrange payment of all payroll-related statutory filings and taxes, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations in each jurisdiction.
  • Monitor changes in payroll legislation and assess impacts on payroll processes and compliance.

Payroll Accounting & Controls

  • Prepare and post monthly payroll journal entries in the financial systems.
  • Reconcile and substantiate all payroll-related general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Support month-end close activities related to payroll in collaboration with the Financial Control team.

Process Improvement & Systems

  • Review, maintain, and continuously improve payroll processes, controls, and documentation.
  • Assist with the implementation and rollout of new global payroll and/or leave management systems, including testing, data validation, and process alignment.

Audit & Stakeholder Support

  • Collect, prepare, and analyze payroll-related data and documentation for external audits.
  • Manage and respond to payroll-related ad hoc requests from internal stakeholders, including HR and Finance.

Policies & Governance

  • Draft, maintain, and periodically review payroll-related policies, including:
  • Leave Policy
  • Employment Benefits Policy
  • Ensure policies are aligned with local regulations and group standards.

Financial Control Support

  • Assist the Financial Control team with reporting requirements, including month-end and ad hoc analyses.
  • Provide broader finance support on an as-needed basis.

Candidate Profile / Background Requirements

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification or payroll certification is preferred but not mandatory

Experience

  • 710 years of progressive experience in payroll operations and payroll accounting.
  • Proven experience managing multi-country payrolls, ideally across APAC and EMEA regions.
  • Strong hands-on experience with payroll accounting, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Experience working with external payroll providers and managing service delivery.
  • Prior involvement in system implementations or payroll process transformations is a strong plus.

Technical Skills

  • Solid understanding of payroll tax, statutory reporting, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and data analysis.
  • Ability to interpret payroll data and translate it into accurate accounting entries.

Soft Skills & Competencies

  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ownership.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple payrolls and deadlines.
  • Clear and confident communicator, able to work across geographies and cultures.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Additional Information

  • This role will be based in Bangalore with hybrid work arrangement.
