Our Noise & Vibration team contributes to hardware design, validation, and troubleshooting to minimize distracting audible noises and optimize their sound quality. We are a diverse team of acoustics and vibration experts, accomplished listeners, and creative problem solvers. We work daily with multifunctional teams on innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges. We are looking for a Noise & Vibration Engineer to join our team based in Bengaluru, India.

Description

As part of Apple's Noise & Vibration group, this Engineer will lead in-region noise and vibration activities in Bengaluru, India, with a wide range of responsibilities, including:

  • Implementing test methodologies, writing test scripts, and creating test plans and standard operating procedures for acoustic noise testing in factory environments
  • Analyzing data using noise level, noise spectrum, and sound quality metrics
  • Troubleshooting design or process issues that result in acoustic noise
  • Creating and implementing innovative test and noise issue resolution solutions
  • Working closely with Apple US and China Noise & Vibration teams, as well as local and headquarters cross-functional teams, across all noise and vibration activities
  • Coordinating with contract manufacturer teams in testing, failure analysis, data management, and work planning, to ensure smooth lab operation and timely delivery of high-quality test data and troubleshooting results
  • Setting up factory noise and vibration test labs and bringing up testers
  • International travel several times per year

Minimum Qualifications

  • Most of our engineers have advanced degrees in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in acoustics or vibration, or in an equivalent field. If you have followed a different path to expertise in these areas, we still want to hear from you.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in nose and vibration engineering
  • Ability to effectively contribute in a fast-paced, constantly changing, and multitasking environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong theoretical and experimental background in acoustics and/or vibration
  • Experience with vibration modal testing and analysis
  • Critical listener with good hearing across the audible frequency range
  • Comfortable with Matlab, Python, or other scripting languages, and ability to learn new scripting skills
  • Extensive experience to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Experience to coordinate with contract manufacturers and suppliers is a plus
  • Working knowledge of project management is beneficial
  • Excellent English communication skills with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts
  • Flexibility in problem-solving approaches
