Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to be part of the AU Bank Datacenter Network Team. The role involves hands-on management of enterprise-grade network infrastructure, translating application and business requirements into robust network solutions, and ensuring secure, compliant, and highly available datacenter operations. The candidate will work closely with application, security, and operations teams in a regulated banking environment.
What You'll Do
- Datacenter Network Operations & Engineering
- Provide hands-on support and management of network devices including Firewalls, Network Switches, Routers, Load Balancers, and Web Application Firewalls (WAF).
- Manage and support datacenter switching and routing environments using Cisco and Arista platforms.
- Design, implement, and support scalable network solutions aligned with application and business needs.
- Solution Design & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Understand requirements from application and functional teams and translate them into effective network infrastructure solutions.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure network readiness for new applications and services.
- Security, Compliance & Audits
- Manage firewalls such as Palo Alto and FortiGate, and Web Application Firewalls including F5 ASM / Advanced WAF.
- Support and manage internal, external, and regulatory IT/network audits.
- Ensure adherence to banking, regulatory, and security compliance requirements.
- Load Balancing & Traffic Management
- Configure and manage F5 Load Balancers including LTM, GTM, and ASM modules.
- Support application delivery, traffic optimization, and high availability through load balancing solutions.
- Advanced Troubleshooting & Monitoring
- Perform advanced packet-level troubleshooting using tools such as Wireshark and TCP Dump.
- Diagnose and resolve complex network and application-related incidents.
- Apply strong analytical skills to handle high-severity network incidents impacting business applications.
- Technologies & Protocols
- Work on advanced routing and switching protocols including BGP, VXLAN, and BGP EVPN.
- Implement and support SD-WAN solutions in enterprise environments.
- Troubleshoot SSL/TLS-related issues including certificates, cipher suites, and handshake failures.
- Vendor & Team Management
- Coordinate with OEMs and vendors to ensure timely delivery, support, and issue resolution.
- Provide guidance, mentoring, and technical leadership to internal network teams.
Success Metrics (first 12 months)
- High availability and stability of datacenter network infrastructure.
- Timely resolution of network incidents and reduced downtime.
- Successful completion of regulatory and IT/network audits with minimal observations.
- Effective delivery of network solutions aligned with application and business needs.
Must-Have Qualifications
- 5–8 years of total experience in IT Network Infrastructure management.
- 3–4 years of experience in a Bank or NBFC environment.
- Strong foundational knowledge of TCP/IP, OSI model, and core networking principles.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise firewalls, load balancers, and datacenter networking technologies.
- Experience managing internal, external, and regulatory network audits.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for network and application-related incidents.
- Knowledge of ITSM processes and incident management practices.
