Role Summary
The Officer will support day-to-day operational activities for the high touch client account, with a primary focus on SSI management, static data setup, and operational readiness across asset servicing workflows. The role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to controls, and effective coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities - IMS Booking, Settlements, OPS Support & SSI Governance
Booking, Settlement & IMS Oversight
- Provide endtoend oversight of IMS booking and settlement operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and complete processing across the full trade lifecycle.
- Oversee booking and settlement activity across Equities, Fixed Income, FX, ETD, Repos, and TBA (MortgageBacked Securities), ensuring adherence to productspecific market conventions and controls.
- Maintain ownership of Broker and Custodian Standard Settlement Instructions (SSIs), ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with client mandates and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor daily operational processes, controls, and exception queues, adopting a handson leadership approach and stepping in where required to mitigate risk or address coverage gaps.
- Ensure consistent application and continuous enhancement of global Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) within the IMS operating model.
- Act as the escalation point for complex booking, settlement, TBA, and SSIrelated issues, coordinating resolution with Clients, Brokers, Custodians, and internal OPS teams.
SSI & Static Data Management
- Maintain and manage Standard Settlement Instructions (SSIs) across markets, products, brokers, and custodians in line with client requirements and regulatory standards.
- Perform static data setup and maintenance, including accounts, counterparties, settlement parameters, safekeeping attributes, cash instructions, and related reference data.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of setup and amendment requests, supported by appropriate validation checks, approvals, makerchecker controls, and audit trails.
- Execute daily controls and reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and integrity of SSIs and static data across IMS platforms.
- Investigate and resolve setuprelated exceptions, settlement failures, and data discrepancies, ensuring root causes are identified and permanently addressed.
- Liaise closely with clients, custodians, brokers, and internal teams (Middle Office, Data, Technology, Risk) to resolve operational issues and support seamless trade settlement.
- Ensure strict adherence to SOPs, risk controls, and compliance standards, including documentation, evidence retention, and formal signoffs.
- Support UAT, system enhancements, and process improvements related to static data management and SSI governance.
Client Delivery, Reporting & OPS Support
- Deliver booking accuracy, settlement status, SSI integrity, and operational performance reporting within agreed SLAs.
- Provide actionable insights by articulating settlement failures, SSI mismatches, booking discrepancies, TBA pairoffs, and allocation breaks, including clear rootcause analysis.
- Provide strong OPS support for daytoday client servicing, ensuring ownership and timely resolution of operational queries and escalations.
- Manage adhoc client, broker, and frontoffice requests related to booking, settlements, SSIs, and static data.
Governance, Controls & Quality
- Maintain and enhance robust control frameworks covering trade booking, settlements, SSIs, static data, position management, and cash movements.
- Ensure SSI and static data change management follows approved governance frameworks, with appropriate segregation of duties and audit evidence.
- Lead break investigations, rootcause analysis, and corrective action planning, driving sustainable remediation and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with State Street policies, client standards, and internal/external audit and regulatory requirements, particularly for highrisk products such as TBA and Fixed Income.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and manage a team responsible for IMS booking, settlement processing, TBA operations, SSI governance, static data maintenance, and OPS support.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance to build deep product, settlement, and data governance expertise within the team.
- Act as the primary escalation point for delivery, quality, and control issues across IMS and OPS functions.
- Partner with global stakeholders across Accounting, Reconciliation, Custody, Front Office, Brokers, Technology, and Operations Risk.
Process Improvement & Innovation
- Drive automation and standardization opportunities across IMS booking, settlements, SSI governance, and static data processes using tools such as Alteryx, Python, Tableau, or equivalent platforms.
- Support transformation initiatives related to IMS operating model evolution, SSI control enhancements, system upgrades, and data quality improvements.
- Strengthen operational resilience through documentation, standardization, crosstraining, and scalable workflow design.
Required Qualifications
Education & Certifications
- Graduate or PostGraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline.
10+ years of strong experience within Investment Operations, with a focus on IMS or Middle Office booking and settlements.
Proven expertise across Trade Lifecycle Management and broader Investment Operations.
Product and market knowledge across Equities, Fixed Income, FX, and ExchangeTraded Derivatives, including Global Markets exposure.
Product experience desirable in:
- Developed and Emerging Market Government Bonds
- Corporate Bonds and Convertibles
- FX Spot and Forwards
- ExchangeTraded Futures and Options
- Repurchase Agreements (Repos)
- ETFs
- Strong global markets knowledge, including SWIFT standards and PACS messaging.
- Advanced Excel skills working knowledge of SQL, Power BI, Python, or automation tools preferred.
- Experience handling large data sets, performing data integrity checks, and managing operational risk controls.
- Excellent communication and stakeholdermanagement capabilities.
- Strong analytical, problemsolving, and decisionmaking skills.
- Ability to perform under tight deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated leadership mindset, with the ability to motivate teams and drive accountability.
