WETS Deposition group at Lam India Global Hardware Technology (LIGHT) is hiring a Mechanical Manager for its product development and product ownership team.

The impact you'll make

As a Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of mechanical engineers responsible for the design, development, and delivery of complex mechanical and electro‑mechanical systems used in semiconductor manufacturing equipment. This role combines strong technical leadership with first‑level people management and execution ownership for assigned subsystems and programs.

You will be accountable for technical quality, schedule, and execution excellence within assigned program and subsystem scope.

What You'll Do

Technical & Program Execution

  • Own and deliver subsystem‑level mechanical designs for semiconductor equipment specifically in fluid transfer systems.
  • Accountable for the team output in Conceptualization, development, verification and documentation of fluid delivery systems to meet the systems specifications.
  • Organize feasibility studies, design approaches and test plans to characterize and validate design performance including full life cycle support.
  • Prepare high-quality reports, KPI measuring and technical presentations to clearly communicate design intent, evaluation, and validation to a diverse audience in design reviews.
  • Provide key deliverables including Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), technical specifications, risk analysis, test specifications, and design review presentations.
  • Provide hands‑on technical guidance across structural, thermal, flow, and electromechanical domains throughout Product Design and Release (PDR) lifecycle.
  • Issue resolutions by escalation through appropriate channels.
  • Own deployment of change management initiatives driven by companywide digital transformation.
  • Manage lab operations for assigned product(s) covering scheduling, utilization, and retrofit execution for test needs.
  • Ensure global process compliance and KPI ownership for assigned product(s) through the team.

People Management & Team Leadership

  • Lead a first‑level team of 6–10 engineers with clear direction and feedback in the area of fluid mechanics.
  • Create WBS, assign projects, set priorities, and track execution against commitments.
  • Mentor engineers on technical rigor, design quality, and Lam processes.
  • Support IDPs and skill development aligned to program needs.
  • Participate in hiring and onboarding with senior leadership and HR.
  • Own contingency workforce planning to ensure short‑ and mid‑term business continuity.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with electrical, systems, software, process, supplier, and program teams.
  • Communicate status, risks, and mitigation plans clearly to stakeholders.

Standards, Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure compliance with Lam engineering standards and processes.
  • Contribute to BKMs and local design standard improvements.
  • Drive Innovation, Cost reduction and Continuous improvement culture within the team.

Who We're Looking For

  • Education: B.E. / B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience: 10–14 years of relevant experience, preferably in semiconductor or complex capital equipment engineering
  • Prior first‑level people management Experience is preferred
  • Hands-on experimental and design background coupled with solid engineering skills

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. On-site Flex you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. Virtual Flex you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
