Engineering Manager Manufacturing (Assembly Operations)
About the Role:
A leading global engineering and manufacturing organization is seeking a Engineering Team Manager to drive operational excellence in its assembly operations. This role will focus on enhancing productivity, quality, and sustainability while leading high-performing teams and implementing world-class manufacturing practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Shop Floor & Operations Management
- Lead end-to-end manufacturing processes to achieve operational and cost efficiency
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Methods, and SCM teams for timely delivery
- Ensure optimal maintenance and utilization of production equipment
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Drive Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and waste elimination initiatives
- Improve productivity, quality, and safety standards
- Implement structured problem-solving tools (A3, FMEA, DOE, PPSR)
Team Leadership & Development
- Build and develop high-performing teams through training and skill enhancement
- Drive employee engagement, safety culture, and continuous improvement mindset
- Collaborate with HR for competency development and workforce flexibility
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to IMS, safety, and quality standards
- Drive initiatives for scrap reduction, WIP optimization, and rejection control
- Support internal and external audits
Digitalization & Innovation
- Lead Industry 4.0, automation, and digital transformation initiatives
- Improve efficiency through systems such as ERP and digital manufacturing tools
Sustainability & Customer Focus
- Drive sustainability initiatives to reduce carbon footprint
- Enhance customer satisfaction through quality improvements and NPS focus
- Support New Product Development (NPD) for zero-defect launches
Key Goals (3–5 Years):
- 20% reduction in process waste and line losses
- Significant improvement in productivity, OTIF, and lead time
- Reduction in customer complaints and quality rejections
- Implementation of digital and Industry 4.0 initiatives
- 30% reduction in environmental footprint
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Production / Industrial Engineering
- Postgraduate qualification (MBA/Engineering) preferred
- 10–12 years of experience in manufacturing/assembly operations
- 3–5 years in a leadership role
- Strong exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, and Kaizen
- Experience with SAP/ERP systems
- Prior experience in a multinational environment preferred
