Job Description

Designation :-Manufacturing Engineering Head - Forging , Machine Shop Industry

Experience :-

Candidate should have 10 to 15 years of experience in :-

  • Automotive component manufacturing
  • Forging and machining industry
  • Tier-1 / Tier-2 OEM suppliers
  • Multi-process manufacturing plants

Manufacturing Process Engineering

  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for:
    • Forging
    • CNC/VMC machining
    • Gear cutting gear finishing
    • Welding fabrication
    • Heat treatment
    • Powder coating painting
  • Establish process flow, routing, SOPs, control plans, and process parameters.
  • Drive process capability improvement and reduction of cycle time.
  • Lead line balancing and productivity enhancement initiatives.
  • Ensure manufacturing feasibility for new products and customer RFQs.
Manufacturing Costing Estimation

  • Prepare detailed manufacturing costing for OEM and export customers.
  • Expertise in:
    • Machine hour rate calculation
    • Forging costing
    • Machining costing
    • Tooling costing
    • Welding costing
    • Heat treatment costing
    • Surface coating costing
    • Consumable costing
    • Labour costing
    • Overhead allocation
  • Analyze BOM and process-wise cost breakdown.
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities through VA/VE activities.
  • Support quotation team for accurate and competitive pricing.
New Product Development (NPD)

  • Lead APQP activities for new component development.
  • Conduct feasibility studies for new RFQs and customer drawings.
  • Coordinate with design, production, quality, tooling, and suppliers.
  • Ensure successful PPAP submission and SOP launch.

Tooling Process Optimization

  • Optimize tooling selection and tool life for CNC/VMC operations.
  • Improve forging die life and process efficiency.
  • Develop fixture concepts for machining and welding.
  • Implement poka-yoke and lean manufacturing practices.

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead Kaizen, Lean, 5S, TPM, and productivity improvement projects.
  • Reduce rejection, rework, breakdown, and process losses.
  • Improve OEE and plant efficiency.
  • Drive automation and process digitization initiatives.

Quality Customer Support

  • Support root cause analysis for customer complaints and internal quality issues.
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • IATF 16949
    • ISO systems
    • Safety standards
    • OEM customer requirements
  • Participate in customer audits and process audits.
Team Management

  • Lead manufacturing engineering team and cross-functional coordination.
  • Train production teams on process standards and best practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and develop technical capability within the organization.

Technical Skills Required

Strong Knowledge In

  • Closed die forging process
  • CNC turning VMC machining
  • Gear hobbing, shaping, shaving, grinding
  • MIG/TIG/Projection welding
  • Heat treatment processes:
    • Hardening
    • Tempering
    • Carburizing
    • Induction hardening
  • Powder coating and industrial painting systems
  • Manufacturing process planning
  • Industrial engineering cycle time study
  • Manufacturing costing quotation preparation
  • Tooling engineering
  • Lean manufacturing
  • APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan
Software Knowledge

  • AutoCAD
  • SolidWorks / Creo (preferred)
  • ERP systems
  • Advanced MS Excel
  • Costing and production planning tools

Educational Qualification

  • BE / B.Tech in Mechanical / Production Engineering
  • Additional certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, or Industrial Engineering preferred
