About the Role

The Standards & Innovation team sits at the intersection of architecture, interior design, strategy, and operations. We define architectural standards, prototype new workplace concepts, and evolve WeWork's global design language to ensure consistency, flexibility, and innovation across our portfolio. We are seeking a Manager of Standards & Innovation to lead our spatial standards andcreative design functions. In this role, you will oversee both the Creative and SpatialDesigners and Architects, blending high-level aesthetic vision with rigorous, scalablesystems. Acting as a workplace strategist, you will drive the overarching design strategy,ensuring that material innovations, spatial concepts, and architectural standardsseamlessly align to meet distinct workspace needs.

Roles and Responsibilities

Workplace Strategy & Leadership:

  • Define and drive the overarching workplace design strategy, actively researching and prototyping new workplace concepts, spatial typologies, and amenity strategies.
  • Mentor and oversee a cross-functional team of architects and creative designers to translate strategic design visions into repeatable, high-quality built environments. Overlooking all aspects of team deliverables in project life-cycle, stakeholder buy-in, roll-out and Audit.

  • Forecast and analyse sustainability trends and build those into the design framework for the future.

Creative Direction & FF&E Oversight:

  • Direct the creative vision for Millwork, Fixtures, and Equipment standardization and oversee the development of comprehensive design playbooks.
  • Guide the creative team in sourcing emerging trends, materials, and technologies, ensuring showroom visits and factory tours yield partners that meet our operational goals.
  • Oversee wayfinding strategies, ensuring the integration of innovative materials and signage solutions for enhanced user navigation.

Architectural Standards Management:

  • Manage the development, documentation, and continuous evolution of architectural standards, guidelines, and toolkits.
  • Collaborate and network with global teams and best in class design and real estate firms to bring best practices in design to WeWork India
  • Ensure execution quality and design consistency by overseeing periodic site visits and the auditing of BOQs and Revit templates.

Process Innovation & Operations:

  • Champion process automation, leveraging AI-driven methodologies and Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) workflows to reduce CapEx, improve efficiency, and shorten project timelines.
  • Analyze data extracted from BI tools to inform design decisions and continuously refine standards based on performance insights.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Act as the central touchpoint for Building Engineering, Project Management, Real Estate, Community, and Operations to ensure all standards align with business goals.
  • Utilize a solid understanding of workplace MEP and ICT components, working directly with Building Engineering to guarantee new standards are functionally viable and ready for deployment.

Education and Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture
  • 9-10 years of professional experience in workplace design, commercial interiors, or architecture, with a proven track record in a leadership or strategic role
  • Strong background in workplace strategy, design standardization, and managing large-scale portfolios
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of industry-standard tools including Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Cloud. Familiarity with rendering platforms (Lumion, Enscape, V-Ray) is a plus
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to seamlessly blend creative innovation with practical project management and operational improvements
