Role : Manager / Senior Manager – Procurement & Planning

Qualification : MBA in Supply Chain / Operations

Experience : 10 to 15 years

Location : Indore

Job Description :

The role is responsible for driving strategic sourcing, efficient planning, and inventory optimization to support high-quality, timely project delivery. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in engineering procurement, vendor development, and production planning within a regulated or capital equipment environment.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Strategic Sourcing

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies for engineering components, fabricated parts, bought-out items, and pharma machinery sub-assemblies.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop a robust vendor base across India and international markets.
  • Lead negotiations for pricing, contracts, and long-term supply agreements to ensure cost competitiveness.
  • Drive cost optimization through value engineering, alternate sourcing, and supplier rationalization.
  • Monitor supplier performance (quality, delivery, cost) and implement corrective actions.

Planning & Inventory Management

  • Lead demand planning, production planning, and material requirement planning (MRP) aligned with project schedules.
  • Ensure timely availability of materials to meet manufacturing and dispatch timelines.
  • Optimize inventory levels to reduce carrying costs while ensuring zero production disruption.
  • Implement structured planning systems and forecasting models.

Supply Chain & Operations Excellence

  • Improve end-to-end supply chain efficiency, reduce lead times, and streamline procurement cycles.
  • Coordinate with logistics partners for smooth domestic and international shipments.
  • Ensure compliance with import/export regulations and documentation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with design, engineering, production, quality assurance, and project teams.
  • Support new product development initiatives with timely sourcing of critical and custom components.
  • Align procurement and planning with customer delivery commitments and project milestones.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to applicable quality and regulatory standards relevant to pharma equipment manufacturing (e.g., GMP practices).
  • Identify supply risks and implement contingency sourcing strategies.
  • Maintain procurement documentation for audits and internal controls.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop procurement and planning teams, ensuring high performance and accountability.
  • Establish KPIs, track performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Build a collaborative and result-oriented team culture.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering / Industrial Engineering / Production Engineering or related field.
  • MBA in Supply Chain / Operations / Materials Management preferred.

Experience

  • 10–15+ years of experience in procurement and planning within engineering or manufacturing industries.
  • At least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Preferred experience in pharmaceutical machinery, capital equipment, or similar custom-built manufacturing environments.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of engineering procurement and vendor development.
  • Expertise in ERP systems (SAP/ ERP Next/Frappe),
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and cost management skills.
  • Understanding of fabrication, machining, and bought-out components.
  • Knowledge of global sourcing, logistics, and import/export procedures.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in pharma equipment manufacturing or regulated industries.
  • Exposure to international sourcing and supplier audits.
  • Familiarity with GMP and documentation practices.
