The University of Aberdeen will open its Mumbai campus in Powai in September 2026. At launch, it will offer six programmes: four-year undergraduate degrees in Computing, Data Science, Economics, and Business Management, along with one-year master's degrees in Artificial Intelligence and Business Administration.

We are seeking a proactive and people‑centric Manager/Senior Manager–HR to support the establishment and day‑to‑day running of the Human Resources function. This role will contribute to building a high‑performance culture, ensuring operational excellence, and delivering HR processes aligned with global university standards.

Key Responsibilities

HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle

  • Manage end-to-end HR operations including recruitment support, onboarding, documentation, joining formalities, and induction.
  • Maintain employee records, HRIS data accuracy, and ensure seamless HR workflows.
  • Coordinate payroll inputs, attendance, leave management, and statutory documentation.

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Support recruitment activities for academic and administrative roles, including sourcing, screening, scheduling, and candidate communication.
  • Execute smooth onboarding processes and ensure new employees integration into the campus environment.
  • Liaise with global HR teams for overseas faculty hiring requirements.

Performance Management & Employee Engagement

  • Support the performance appraisal process and ensure timely completion of cycles.
  • Assist in implementing capability‑building, leadership development, and training programmes.
  • Plan and execute employee engagement initiatives, team‑building events, and well‑being activities.

Policies, Compliance & HR Governance

  • Assist in drafting, implementing, and maintaining HR policies aligned with university standards and Indian regulations.
  • Ensure statutory compliance related to labour laws, contracts, and university accreditation requirements.
  • Manage disciplinary processes, grievance handling support, and employee relations in coordination with senior HR leadership.

Culture Building & Collaboration

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and globally aligned work culture.
  • Partner with academic and administrative teams to address HR needs.
  • Support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across the campus.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3+ years of HR experience, preferably within higher education or service‑driven industries.

Required Skills

  • HR Operations Management: Strong experience handling HR processes and systems.
  • Recruitment & Coordination: Ability to manage hiring cycles efficiently.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to address employee concerns with tact and fairness.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong planning, multitasking, and follow-through abilities.
  • Technology Proficiency: Experience with HRIS, MS Office, and digital tools.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
