Role Overview

The Manager - SAP Platform & BASIS will serve as the strategic owner of WeWork India's SAP landscape, driving its technical roadmap, performance, security, and compliance. This leadership role requires deep technical expertise combined with strong skills in stakeholder management and strategic ownership to ensure platform stability, optimize operations, and enable business scalability through advanced cloud integration and automation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1. SAP Platform Strategy & Roadmap

  • Define and own the long-term SAP technical roadmap (including ERP, BW on HANA, Solution Manager, SCM) aligned with overall business and technology strategy.

  • Drive architectural decisions to ensure the SAP landscape is scalable, stable, and prepared for future transformation (e.g., S/4HANA readiness).

  • Lead capacity planning and system lifecycle management to accommodate business growth and peak usage.

2. Core Operations, Stability & Performance

  • Oversee all SAP BASIS administration tasks, including system installations, upgrades, patches, refreshes, and transport management.

  • Establish and maintain robust monitoring frameworks, health checks, and alerting mechanisms to ensure system reliability (target 99.9% uptime).

  • Drive continuous HANA performance optimization and system tuning to maintain high-speed operations.

  • Govern the L1/L2/L3 support model, ensuring timely incident resolution, SLA adherence, and proactive problem management (RCA and preventive measures).

3. Cloud Integration & Architecture (SAP BTP / CPI)

  • Define and implement the SAP integration architecture utilizing SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform), SAP CPI (Integration Suite), and Cloud Connector.

  • Ensure secure and seamless integration with core enterprise systems: Finance, HRMS, Procurement, Contract Management and CRM platforms.

  • Lead proof-of-concepts (POCs) for new integration approaches and validate the technical architecture.

4. Governance, Risk & Compliance (ITGC)

  • Own the SAP compliance framework, ensuring adherence to IT General Controls (ITGC), audit readiness, and Segregation of Duties (SoD) policies.

  • Partner with Finance and Audit teams to facilitate compliance reporting, periodic access reviews, and maintain control evidence.

  • Define the technical framework and tools to support master data governance, quality, and standardization efforts across the SAP landscape.

5. Leadership & Partner Management

  • Lead and mentor the internal SAP Platform team, defining clear roles, responsibilities, and performance metrics.

  • Manage external SAP AMS (Application Management Services) vendors and implementation partners.

  • Define and enforce SLAs, rigorously track vendor performance, drive cost optimization, and act as the escalation point for critical issues.

6. Automation & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and drive high-impact automation initiatives within the SAP environment (e.g., workflow automation, process optimization).

  • Reduce manual interventions, improve operational efficiency, and promote innovation through the adoption of new SAP technologies and scripting/automation tools.

  • Ensure comprehensive documentation (system architecture, SOPs, runbooks, integration flows) and maintain a knowledge repository for team readiness.

Required Skills & Experience

Experience

  • 8-15 years of progressive SAP experience with a strong foundation in BASIS administration.

  • Proven track record of managing complex, high-availability SAP landscapes in an enterprise environment.

  • Mandatory experience in team leadership, vendor management, and defining SAP technical strategy.

Technical Expertise:

  • Deep expertise in SAP BASIS administration across ECC/ERP, BW on HANA, SAP Solution Manager, and SCM.

  • Expertise in system performance tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and applying security patches/upgrades.

  • Strong understanding of SAP HANA fundamentals, database management, and lifecycle.

Cloud & Integration:

  • Hands-on experience with or strong exposure to SAP BTP, SAP CPI (Integration Suite), and Cloud Connector.

  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing API-based integration architectures.

Functional & Compliance Awareness :

  • Working knowledge of core SAP modules (FI/CO, MM, PS) and enterprise business processes (P2P, R2R).Solid experience implementing and managing ITGC controls, SoD frameworks, and audit management procedures.

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to S/4HANA transformation projects.

  • Knowledge of ABAP, SAP Fiori, and modern scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation.

Leadership Competencies

  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills across Finance, Procurement, and Technology teams.

  • Proven ability to translate complex business needs into actionable, robust technical solutions.

  • Strong ownership mindset, accountability for outcomes, and a commitment to team development and mentoring.
