What You Will Do
The Global People Service & Solutions team is looking for a highly organized Payroll and Benefits Manager with strong processing, problem solving and collaborative skills to join a motivated, energetic, and resourceful People Team and support the India Global Capability Center of a multinational Financial Services company. The Manager, Payroll and Benefits will be responsible for the management, oversight, collation, processing, and validating of daily, weekly, monthly, and annual payroll and benefit tasks to ensure accurate, scalable, compliant, and consistent operations and procedures within a payroll managed service environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of India People Team policies, payroll, benefits administration, monthly and annual statutory returns, payroll systems, compensation policy and programs, payroll and benefits legislation, standard operating procedures and their collective impact on employee experience and employee data.
The Manager, Payroll and Benefits, is responsible for administering the payroll and benefit changes relating to the applicable employee life cycle to ensure complete and accurate processing for the India Global Capability Center as well as act as a back-up within the team for payrolls across several countries and several lines of business, in an environment of continuous improvement. Excellent problem-solving skills and a high degree of customer focus are essential in this dynamic, high performing culture.
This role is based at our Gurgaon location and currently the office is operating with hybrid working arrangements.
What You Can Expect
- Management and oversight of the administration, processing, and validation of different payroll and benefits schemes
- Collaborate with the other People Team members and management throughout the company to assist in the delivery of excellent customer experience for all client groups.
- Optimizing operational excellence by implementing process improvement within the payroll and benefits processing space would include identifying problems/inefficiencies, researching, reviewing, vetting, and implementing, centralization and standardization of best practices and documentation for cyclical process improvements.
- Establish strong relationships with People Team, Compensation and Benefit colleagues and other internal and external vendor functional teams to develop an understanding of company business culture and provide timely and well-planned process support.
- Function as an escalation point of contact for payroll and benefit processing concerns or changes that need addressing.
- Escalate any important or urgent issues to the Director - Global Payroll.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate risks to the business in relation to payroll and benefits processing.
- Stay up to date with regulatory developments and best practices regarding payroll and benefits.
- Manage and administer shadow payrolls in relation to cross borders and remote working requirements.
- Coordinate new entity, branch and country set-ups where required.
- Manage related payroll year end tasks.
- Managing country-specific annual benefit renewals.
- Benefit invoice processing and allocation across country business groups.
What You Will Bring
- At least 5-7 years in a senior India payroll and benefit processing/management role.
- Solid working knowledge of payroll, comp and benefits cyclical processes, e.g., Year End Compensation, Long Term Incentive programs, annual benefit renewals.
- Experience with a range of different payrolls and readiness for future country expansion.
- Experience working in a demanding environment with a sense of urgency.
- Experience with dealing with global/multi-national payroll and benefit schemes ideally in a regulated financial services Company.
- Expertise in overseeing and processing employee life-cycle payroll and benefits administration changes, including hiring, payroll, benefits, compensation, and termination processes within globally linked People Team, payroll, benefit and external vendor or regulatory systems/portals.
- Excellent vendor relationship management skills, especially with various benefit providers.
- Good written and verbal people skills, dependability, and the ability to communicate with all levels in the organization required.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills required.
- Process oriented, driving improvements to make things as efficient as possible.
- Excellent judgment and discretion required in handling extremely sensitive, privileged, confidential, and/or non-public information in an appropriate manner.
- Proven ability to develop and sustain positive working relationships and influence others.
- Experience of working in a matrix organization, across multiple countries and cultures.
- Excellent payroll/benefits systems knowledge (Workday and ADP required).
- Strong IT Skills, including good proficiency in Excel. Able to manipulate data, generate reports, and provide analysis.
- Ability to self-manage as well as manage other individuals, workstreams, and deadlines.
- Excellent diligence, accuracy, and completeness.

- End-to-end‑ statutory compliance with EPF (Employee Provident Fund), EPS (Employee Pension Scheme), ESI (Employee State Insurance), LWF (Labour Welfare Fund), Gratuity.
- Expertise in TDS (Tax deducted at source) on salary and annual tax documentation (Form 16).
- Strong hold on India's multi‑state payroll rules (minimum wages, PT (Professional Tax), Shops & Establishments).
- Implementation & readiness for Labour Codes 2020 roll‑out.
- Managing statutory filings and maintaining statutory registers.
- Ensuring integration with Indian ID frameworks (Aadhaar, PAN (Permanent Account Number, used for Income Tax), UAN (Universal Account Number, used for EPF & EPS)).
