Objective:
Support the Product and Technology Development team by establishing, maintaining, and defending a robust Intellectual Property (IP) portfolio, protecting know-how, and managing IP-related risks. Enhance in-house IP capabilities to streamline IPR activities.
Key Responsibilities
Protection of Intellectual Property
- Ensure protection and defense of intellectual property, including company know-how.
- Harvest and evaluate invention disclosures.
- Initiate novelty searches and analyze resulting data.
- Draft and prosecute patent applications.
- Enforce, register, and maintain trademarks.
- Defend against third-party IP rights attacks.
- Review patents and trademarks.
- Identify IP infringements and enforce IP rights.
- Draft and negotiate IP-related agreements.
IP Risk Management
- Conduct patent landscaping and freedom-to-operate (FTO) evaluations.
- Perform patentability, infringement, and literature searches.
- Manage IP risks to enable compliant product launches.
- Handle online PCT filing and other patent submissions.
- Execute competitor IP countermeasures (e.g., opposition, invalidation).
- Conduct IP due diligence for joint developments or partnerships.
- Analyze IP issues at early-stage product selection.
- Study market exclusivity and blocking patents (e.g., SPC, NCE).
Scientific Information Management & Awareness
- Respond to internal search requests (patents, literature, prior art).
- File and prosecute patents across multiple jurisdictions.
- Counsel R&D teams on patentability, infringement, and innovation strategy.
- Retrieve and analyze external IP-related data using advanced databases.
- Conduct IP awareness and training programs for technical teams.
- Stay updated with global patent laws (US, EP, PCT, CN, IN).
- Use data mining tools for prior art and legal landscape analysis.
Educational Qualifications
- Minimum: M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry
- Preferred: Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry
Experience
- Total: Minimum 8 years in the IPR industry.
- Relevant: At least 4 years of experience specifically in the Chemical, Pharma, or Agrochemical industries.
- Industry Preference: Experience in EV, Hydrogen, Solar, Fluorospeciality, Fluorochemicals, Polymers, or Organic Chemistry sectors.
