Purpose
Support the Head – Institutional Projects & Development in developing practical, execution-ready and long-term sustainable design solutions for multi-location infrastructure projects across India.
The role focuses on renovation, transformation of existing buildings, and new space development for institutional centers, labs, and training infrastructure. It requires strong visualisation ability, technical understanding, and the capability to convert ideas into workable, efficient, and scalable layouts that remain sustainable and functional in the long run.
Key Responsibilities
1. Concept Design & Visualization
- Convert project requirements into quick sketches, layouts, and design concepts
- Develop practical space plans for classrooms, labs, workshops, and support areas
- Provide fast design options for decision-making and execution readiness
2. Renovation, New Space & Sustainable Planning
- Redesign existing buildings into modern institutional setups with efficient space utilization
- Plan new spaces ensuring scalability, flexibility, and long-term usability
- Ensure designs are practical, cost-efficient, and sustainable for future operational needs
- Focus on long-term feasibility of layouts, not just short-term execution
3. Architect Coordination & Design Development
- Coordinate closely with architects and design consultants for development of drawings
- Translate concepts, sketches, and site requirements into structured architectural outputs
- Review architectural drawings for practicality, execution feasibility, and alignment with project intent
- Ensure design outputs remain simple, buildable, and aligned with real site conditions
4. Interior, Lighting & MEP Integration
- Plan interior layouts with functional usability and institutional aesthetics
- Design lighting layouts for classrooms, labs, and common spaces
- Coordinate basic integration of MEP services (electrical, HVAC, plumbing) into layouts
- Ensure safety elements such as exits, access paths, and equipment zones are properly planned
5. Lab & Training Infrastructure Planning
- Design layouts for skill labs and New Age Technology Training Set-ups
- Ensure correct placement of equipment, utilities, and workflow movement
- Align design with technical and operational requirements of training infrastructure
6. Site-Based Execution Support
- Visit project sites to understand physical constraints and real conditions
- Modify and refine designs based on site realities
- Support resolution of design-related execution issues on ground
7. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Civil, MEP, Procurement, and Project teams
- Ensure design alignment with materials, equipment, and execution feasibility
- Support fast decision-making by providing clear visual and technical inputs
Requirements
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong ability to visualise, sketch, and convert ideas into layouts quickly
- Hands-on experience in renovation, retrofit, and institutional design projects
- Strong understanding of interior design, space planning, lighting, and functionality
- Knowledge of MEP basics and safety integration in design layouts
- Ability to understand long-term usability, scalability, and sustainability of spaces
- Strong coordination skills with architects and consultants
Technical / Software Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (mandatory)
- Working knowledge of SketchUp / Revit / similar 3D visualisation tools (preferred)
- Ability to read, interpret, and review architectural and technical drawings
- Basic capability in visual presentation tools for concept communication
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture / Civil Engineering
- 7-10 years of experience in design, architecture coordination, or infrastructure projects
- Strong exposure to renovation, retrofit, or institutional projects preferred
Language Skills
- English & Hindi (basic communication)
