Job Description

Role Summary: As a Manager – Crewing, you will oversee the complete end-to-end crew management process, ensuring all onboarding, sign-offs, travel, and documentation are handled accurately, cost-effectively, and on time while maintaining full compliance and minimizing any impact on vessel operations with team assisting you.

Reports to: Head of Crew Manning (Based in Singapore office)

Role and Responsibilities

  • Handling of assigned crewing team and responsible for smooth functioning of assigned vessels within allotted budget
  • Planning of officers for the respective vessels
  • Responsible for retention and promotion of seafarers in accordance with company policies
  • Ensure onboarding and off boarding of sea staff ( Including Non Indians) and supernumeraries are carried out effectively and, in most cost, efficient timely manner. This includes verification of all required documentations, visas, PEME.
  • Communicating with the vessel in timely fashion addressing all crewing related queries
  • Liaising with vessel's technical and marine teams for candidate approvals and deployment
  • Compliance with Flag/Company/Local requirements (including DGS Form I)
  • Handling of vendors as applicable ( PO creation and approvals)
  • Pre-departure check list , briefings and performance appraisal review to be completed
  • Verify sea staff scheduling and data entry of sea staff in crewing software (attach required copies of documents in crew software).
  • Oversee execution of crew changes i.e. communicating with the agents, staggering , logistics , handover duration etc.
  • Handling of P&I cases
  • Liaising with flag for flag state documents , dispensations as required.
  • Assist in arranging crewing conferences, ISO audit, RPSL audit and Branding as required
  • Act as Back up for own team member and/or for other team lead
  • Any other task assigned by superior

Key performance Indicators

  • Budget adherence, Retention , Planning , In house promotions , No detentions and No offhires
  • Handling of Crew Sign on / Sign off procedures without undue vessel delays
  • Handling of non routine situations such as crew medical cases, performance issues
  • Maintaining Seafarer's documents / checklists as per ISO & RPSL requirements

Requirements

  • Graduates from Commerce / Science.
  • At least 10 Years of experience in Shipping industry with 7 years experience in crewing related functions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software with the ability to learn new or updated software.
  • Proficiency in the English language, both verbal and written.
  • Individual who is disciplined, self-motivated, determined and target driven.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and able to liaise with stakeholders.
