Job Description

About Us

At Ugaoo, we've always believed plants are more than décor — they're companions, healers, and reminders of what truly matters. What began as a small idea sparked by a plant on a windowsill has grown into India's leading gardening brand, backed by marquee investors like DSG Consumer Partners and V3 Ventures. From our 25-acre farm in Talegaon to a thriving D2C store and retail presence across Pune, Mumbai, and Bangalore — we're building an ecosystem that brings nature closer to homes, offices, and communities

Role Overview

The Finance & Accounts Manager will be the backbone of Ugaoo's financial operations. You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, managing taxation and statutory compliances, and leading a team of dedicated finance professionals. The ideal candidate brings a strong mix of core accounting discipline, commercial acumen, and experience handling the complexities of an inventory-heavy, high-growth retail and e-commerce business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
    • Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closing processes within strict deadlines.
    • Prepare, review, and present accurate Financial Statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) to senior management.
    • Oversee the reconciliation of marketplaces (Amazon, Flipkart, etc.), payment gateways (Razorpay, PayU), and retail store collections.
  • Taxation & Statutory Compliance
    • Manage all aspects of direct and indirect taxation, ensuring 100% compliance with Indian statutory laws.
    • Oversee the timely calculation, filing, and payment of GST, TDS, TCS, and Advance Tax.
    • Liaise with external tax consultants and legal advisors to handle assessments, notices, and audits effectively.
    • Ensure compliance with ROC filings and other corporate governance requirements.
  • Audit, Control, & Working Capital Management
    • Act as the primary point of contact for internal and statutory auditors, preparing all necessary schedules and resolving audit queries.
    • Design, implement, and monitor robust Internal Financial Controls (IFC) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across inventory, fixed assets, and revenue recognition.
    • Monitor daily cash flows and manage working capital efficiently to support inventory procurement and operational needs.
  • Business Partnering & FP&A Support
    • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Retail teams to ensure accurate inventory valuation, physical stock verification, and tracking of shrinkage/wastage.
    • Assist the FP&A team in annual budgeting, forecasting, and tracking budget-to-actual variances.
    • Provide data-driven insights to help optimize operational costs and improve gross margins.
  • Team Leadership & Process Optimization
    • Mentor, train, and manage the general accounting, AR (Accounts Receivable), and AP (Accounts Payable) teams.
    • Spearhead automation initiatives to upgrade our ERP and financial systems, reducing manual dependencies and improving data accuracy.
Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Chartered Accountant (CA) is highly preferred or MBA (Finance) with exceptional core accounting experience will be considered.
  • Experience: 2 to 4 years of comprehensive experience in Finance and Accounts. (Experience in the D2C, FMCG, E-commerce, or Retail sectors is highly advantageous).
  • Technical Skills:
    • Expert knowledge of Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS) and current tax regulations (GST, TDS, Income Tax).
    • Hands-on experience with robust ERP systems
    • Advanced MS Excel skills for financial modelling and complex data reconciliation.
  • Soft Skills:
    • High integrity, detail-oriented, and commercially aware.
    • Strong leadership qualities with the ability to foster a collaborative team environment.
    • Excellent communication skills to translate complex financial data into actionable business insights.
