About The Role

Due to continuous growth, CommScope is seeking a dedicated Technician I, Maintenance to join our team at our Goa, India facility. This role is vital in ensuring the optimal operation of our production equipment, maintaining high standards of safety, efficiency, and reliability. The Technician I will be responsible for executing preventive maintenance schedules, troubleshooting breakdowns, and setting up new machinery or production lines. The role requires a proactive approach to maintaining equipment uptime, managing spare parts inventory, and adhering to all safety and compliance standards. The ideal candidate should be flexible to work in rotational shifts, possess strong technical skills, and demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • B.E. in Electronics/Electrical Engineering with 12 years of relevant industrial experience.
  • Alternatively, a Diploma in Electronics/Electrical Engineering with 35 years of hands-on manufacturing experience.
  • Proven experience in maintenance, fault diagnosis, and troubleshooting of cable manufacturing lines and auxiliary equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance practices in a continuous process environment.
  • Working familiarity with PLC, HMI, AC/DC Drives (parameterization, fault diagnostics, tuning, basic commissioning), and AC/DC motors.
  • Experience with industrial sensors such as proximity, photoelectric, encoders, load cells, temperature controllers, and pressure transducers.
  • Hands-on experience in resolving issues related to drive faults, signal interruptions, control panels, wiring, and power distribution systems.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical components like gearboxes, bearings, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively within teams and with cross-functional departments.

Responsibilities

  • Execute preventive maintenance (PM) schedules to ensure machinery operates at peak performance.
  • Attend to and resolve breakdown calls promptly, minimizing downtime and maintaining production continuity.
  • Control metrics such as Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) to improve equipment reliability.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to higher management for timely resolution.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety norms and standards, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Maintain 5S standards within the maintenance area to promote cleanliness, organization, and efficiency.
  • Monitor and manage spare parts consumption, highlighting deviations and optimizing inventory levels.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and operational regulations.
  • Maximize machinery uptime through quick troubleshooting and effective maintenance interventions.
  • Develop and modify machinery, tools, and fixtures to improve operational efficiency.
  • Work collaboratively within a team, establishing clear objectives and meeting set goals.
  • Support the installation and commissioning of new equipment and production lines.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, spare parts usage, and equipment performance.
