Mainframe Developer (Primary title: Mainframe Developer)

Industry: Financial Services / Enterprise IT Services. Sector: Legacy Mainframe Application Development, Batch Processing and Modernizationsupporting mission-critical, transaction-heavy systems. This is an on-site India role working directly with enterprise-grade mainframe environments, focused on stability, performance and incremental modernization.

Location: India (ON-SITE). Hiring partner: Viraaj HR Solutions.

Role & Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain COBOL programs, JCL jobs and CICS transactions to support high-volume production workloads.
• Troubleshoot and resolve batch and online application issues, performing root-cause analysis and delivering durable fixes.
• Implement database changes and SQL for DB2, manage VSAM file access and optimize I/O for transaction throughput.
• Work with Release & Operations teams to build, schedule and tune JCL batch jobs; participate in deployments and runbook creation.
• Collaborate with application architects and modernization teams to refactor code, support API enablement and incremental migration activities.
• Author technical documentation, unit tests and operational runbooks; follow change control and mainframe security (RACF) standards.
