Linux Kernel Storage Expert / Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Linux Kernel Storage Expert / Consultant to contribute to the development and maintenance of the Linux kernel. Your focus will be on UFS (Universal Flash Storage) 3.1, Host Memory Buffer (HMB) architecture, and related subsystems. This pivotal role involves developing, testing, and optimizing kernel patches for various subsystems to enhance performance, reliability, and functionality, while also collaborating with cross-functional teams and contributing to upstream projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Linux kernel development and maintenance will be a primary focus, specifically for UFS 3.1, Host Memory Buffer (HMB) architecture, and related subsystems.
  • Kernel patches for UFS, xHCI, Thunderbolt, and UCSI subsystems will be developed, tested, and optimized to enhance performance, reliability, and functionality.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential for designing and implementing new features and improvements in the Linux kernel.
  • Participation in code reviews is required, providing constructive feedback and ensuring adherence to best practices and coding standards.
  • Complex issues related to UFS, HMB, xHCI, Thunderbolt, and UCSI in the Linux kernel will be troubleshot and resolved.
  • Staying updated with the latest developments in the Linux kernel community and contributing to upstream projects is expected.
  • Documentation of design specifications, technical details, and user guides for developed features and patches is a key responsibility.

Preferred Experience

  • Proven experience in Linux kernel development with a strong focus on UFS 3.1 and HMB architecture is essential.
  • Strong understanding of xHCI, Thunderbolt, and UCSI subsystems within the Linux kernel is required.
  • Demonstrated contributions to Linux kernel patches and upstream projects are highly valued.
  • Proficiency in C programming and kernel debugging tools is mandatory.
  • Solid understanding of computer architecture, storage technologies, and I/O subsystems is necessary.
  • Experience with open-source development and community engagement is preferred.
  • Familiarity with other storage technologies and protocols is a plus.
