About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Software Specialist to join our esteemed client in the banking industry. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on the design, development, and enhancement of sophisticated infrastructure, systems, and applications that support the Front Office operations. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with global business stakeholders to elicit, review, and translate complex requirements into scalable technical solutions. The role involves working on both client-side and server-side components, with a focus on creating streamlined, revenue-generating services for clients. You will play a vital role in transforming legacy Excel-based tools into modern, service-oriented web applications, thereby enhancing efficiency and client experience. This position requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional capable of quickly acquiring in-depth domain knowledge and working effectively across diverse teams including trading, sales, quantitative analysts, structuring, and technology groups across various product types such as exchange-listed, OTC, and exotic derivatives.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess at least 8 years of professional experience in software development, with a strong emphasis on Java technologies (Java 8 and 17). A proven track record in building and maintaining microservices-based applications is essential. The candidate should have extensive hands-on experience with the Spring Framework, particularly Spring Boot and Spring Security, as well as JPA/Hibernate for ORM solutions. A solid understanding of backend design patterns, including MVC architecture and REST API design, is required. Proficiency in SQL and relational databases, with skills in query optimization and performance tuning, is necessary. Familiarity with API design, integration, and service orchestration is also important. Additional desirable qualifications include exposure to Java 21 features, experience with legacy technologies such as JSP, Struts, and X-Work, and practical knowledge of messaging platforms like Kafka. Experience with cloud-native tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines will be advantageous. A good understanding of secure application practices, including TLS/SSL, is also preferred. Excellent communication skills in English (C2 proficiency) are mandatory for effective collaboration with global teams.

Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for participating in the design, development, and deployment of innovative infrastructure and applications that support the Front Office trading and client services. Key responsibilities include enhancing existing Excel-based pricing, parameter, and risk management tools into scalable, web-based service applications. You will work closely with trading desks, sales teams, quantitative analysts, and structuring groups to understand their requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions. This involves designing and implementing microservices architectures, developing RESTful APIs, and ensuring seamless integration across various systems. The role also entails maintaining and optimizing database queries, tuning application performance, and ensuring high availability and security of services. You will be expected to stay abreast of emerging technologies and incorporate best practices in cloud deployment, containerization, and automation to improve system reliability and scalability. Additionally, you will participate in code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing initiatives to foster a collaborative development environment.
