Headquartered in a northwestern suburb of Atlanta, Jaipur Living designs, manufactures, and distributes rugs and other textiles through its extensive network of high-end interior designers and design firms, national retailers, and third-party e-commerce partners. The company continues to grow rapidly, experiencing double-digit annual growth every year for the past decade. This growth can be attributed to the care Jaipur Living puts not only in their customers but their employees as well. Employees at Jaipur Living are encouraged to collaborate, think independently, and stretch the creative process to develop new ways of marketing and distributing their products around the world.

Role Purpose

Jaipur Living is seeking a senior, high-caliber leader to head its India-based buying house operations. This role will be fully accountable for managing Jaipur Living's extensive vendor ecosystem across India, ensuring on-time delivery, consistent quality, cost discipline, and proactive communication with global teams.

This leader will oversee sourcing, merchandising (vendor & PO management), quality control, and logistics teams, acting as the single point of ownership for India-based finished-goods supply supporting Jaipur Living's global business.

Key Responsibilities

1. Vendor & Supplier Leadership

  • Own and manage relationships with 50+ finished-goods suppliers across India.
  • Build strong, long-term vendor partnerships while holding suppliers accountable for quality, timelines, and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain supplier scorecards covering delivery performance, quality, responsiveness, and cost discipline.
  • Conduct regular on-site factory visits, particularly across Bhadohi, Mirzapur, and other key production clusters.
  • Owns supplier selection, capacity planning, and risk diversification
  • Thinks long‑term about scalability and sustainability, not just cost

2. Merchandising, PO & Execution Ownership

  • Lead end-to-end PO management, production tracking, and ETA control across all vendors.
  • Ensure proactive issue identification and escalation of risks related to delays, capacity constraints, or quality issues.
  • Drive disciplined follow-ups with vendors to ensure commitments are met.

3. Quality Control & Compliance

  • Oversee QC strategy across vendors, including pre-production, in-line, and pre-shipment quality checks.
  • Ensure consistent adherence to Jaipur Living's quality standards across all finished goods.
  • Partner with vendors to continuously improve quality systems and reduce defects and rework.

4. Logistics & Export Coordination

  • Oversee coordination with logistics partners to ensure smooth export execution and on-time shipments.
  • Work closely with internal logistics and overseas teams to manage shipment planning and exceptions.

5. Cross-Border Communication & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary India-based interface for overseas planning, supply chain, and commercial teams.
  • Provide proactive communication on risks, delays, and mitigation plans before issues escalate.
  • Provide regular KPI dashboards and progress reports to key stakeholders covering vendor performance, delivery timelines, quality metrics, sourcing health, and risk areas.
  • Ensure transparency and reliability of information flow between India vendors and global stakeholders.

6. Team Leadership

  • Build, lead, and develop teams across sourcing, merchandising, QC, and logistics.
  • Set clear KPIs, accountability structures, and operating rhythms for all four functions.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 12–18+ years of experience in buying houses, export sourcing offices, or large vendor-led manufacturing ecosystems.
  • Proven leadership experience across merchandising, vendor management, QC, and logistics.
  • Deep familiarity with Indian supplier clusters and export-oriented operations.
  • Strong track record managing large, fragmented vendor bases.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort working with international stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to vendor locations as a core part of the role.

What Success Looks Like

  • Consistent on-time delivery from India vendors.
  • Improved vendor accountability and performance transparency.
  • Fewer surprises for overseas teams through proactive risk communication.
  • Strong, trust-based vendor relationships combined with high execution discipline.
