HR Generalist
Hybrid — Pune ONLY
Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented HR Generalist to join our team. This is a hybrid position based in Pune, offering a blend of remote and in-office work. You will play a central role in our HR operations, owning the full employee lifecycle and driving key functions including performance appraisal processes, bonus management, payroll, HR compliance, employee onboarding and offboarding, leave and attendance management, benefits administration, and process creation and management — while ensuring full alignment with Indian labour law. Advanced Excel skills including VBA and dashboard reporting are essential to this role. Full training on our internal systems is provided.
Working Hours
This role operates on late-shift hours to support our operational requirements. Please review carefully before applying:
- Shift: 1:00 PM – 10:00 PM IST (Monday to Friday)
- The shift includes a one-hour lunch break. Comfort with late-shift working is essential for this role.
- Occasional availability beyond 10:00 PM IST may be required for Leadership Meetings.
Key Responsibilities
Appraisal Process
- Design and manage end-to-end performance appraisal cycles across the organization.
- Coordinate appraisal timelines, communication, and follow-through with department heads.
- Maintain accurate appraisal documentation and track outcomes for reporting purposes.
- Support calibration sessions and ensure fairness and consistency in the appraisal process.
Bonus Management
- Administer and process bonus schemes in line with company policy and performance results.
- Calculate and validate bonus figures, ensuring accuracy before payroll integration.
- Maintain bonus records and generate reports for leadership review.
- Communicate bonus outcomes to employees in a clear and professional manner.
Payroll
- Manage or closely support end-to-end payroll processing on a monthly basis.
- Ensure compliance with all Indian statutory deductions — PF, ESIC, PT, Gratuity, and TDS.
- Reconcile payroll data and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with finance on payroll approvals and disbursements.
HR Compliance
- Ensure organizational compliance with Indian labour laws and statutory requirements.
- Maintain and audit HR documentation — contracts, policies, and employee records.
- Support internal and external audits with accurate, up-to-date documentation.
- Monitor regulatory changes and update HR policies and practices accordingly.
Process Creation & Management
- Design, document, and implement HR SOPs and workflows from scratch where needed.
- Continuously review and improve existing HR processes for efficiency and consistency.
- Maintain and update HRIS/HRMS platforms with accurate employee lifecycle data.
- Build and maintain HR dashboards and automated reports using advanced Excel, including VBA.
Onboarding & Offboarding
- Manage pre-joining documentation, day-one logistics, and structured induction programs for all new hires.
- Track joining formalities, collect required documents, and update HRIS/HRMS promptly.
- Handle end-to-end exit processes — resignation acceptance, notice period tracking, and clearance coordination.
- Coordinate full & final settlement calculations and ensure timely processing.
- Issue relieving letters, experience certificates, and all separation documentation accurately and on time.
Leave & Attendance Management
- Administer leave policies and manage attendance tracking across the organization.
- Maintain accurate leave records and ensure timely coordination with payroll for Loss of Pay (LOP) processing.
- Handle employee queries related to leave balances, attendance discrepancies, and policy clarifications.
HR Reporting & Analytics
- Produce regular HR reports covering headcount, attrition, leave utilization, and payroll summaries for leadership review.
- Build and maintain automated HR dashboards using advanced Excel and VBA.
- Analyse HR data to identify trends and provide actionable insights to support business decisions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of proven HR Generalist experience with hands-on exposure to appraisals, payroll, and compliance.
- Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end performance appraisal and bonus processes.
- Solid understanding of Indian labour laws and statutory compliance (PF, ESIC, PT, Gratuity, TDS).
- Strong payroll management experience — independent or closely supported.
- Proven ability to create and manage HR processes, policies, and SOPs.
- Experience managing onboarding, offboarding, leave, and attendance processes.
- Ability to produce HR reports and analytics covering key workforce metrics.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including VBA and Dashboard development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong organizational ability with the capacity to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive employee data and information.
- Comfortable working late-shift hours (1:00 PM – 10:00 PM IST) with occasional flexibility for Leadership Meetings.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or Postgraduate qualification in Human Resources.
- Certification in Human Resources (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent).
- Experience working with HRIS/HRMS platforms — adaptability across systems is valued.
- Prior experience in a hybrid or remote work environment.
- Familiarity with digital payroll platforms and HR analytics tools.
- Experience building automated HR reports or dashboards using Excel VBA.
- Knowledge of benefits administration including health insurance, PF coordination, and gratuity tracking.
