Role Summary
The HOD English / PGT English is responsible for leading the English department, delivering high-quality English language and literature instruction, mentoring teachers, planning curriculum, and ensuring academic excellence among students.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging English lessons for senior secondary classes (Grades 9–12).
Teach English Language and Literature as per curriculum guidelines.
Prepare yearly, monthly, and weekly lesson plans.
Develop teaching materials, worksheets, and assessments.
Conduct regular tests, assignments, and examinations.
Evaluate student performance and provide feedback.
Prepare students for board examinations.
Department Leadership (HOD Duties)
Lead and manage the English department.
Allocate subjects and classes to English teachers.
Conduct departmental meetings regularly.
Monitor teaching standards and lesson delivery.
Mentor and guide junior English teachers.
Ensure syllabus completion on time.
Maintain academic records and reports.
