Job Title: Head of Sales, Payroll Vertical

The Opportunity: Great Kapital is diversifying into payroll processing services by forming a full fledged new division with its own identity: backed by a proven client base spanning pharma, offline retail, etc. We're looking for a sales leader who has spent years building trust inside India's payroll and workforce ecosystem, arrives with existing relationships and can help ramp this vertical. The Head of Sales will lead the sales function end-to-end: define the GTM strategy, own the pipeline, close the first cohort of anchor clients, and build the sales team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build the sales plan/ GTM strategy for our payroll business from scratch - using our existing client network as the starting point.
- Reach out to HR heads, finance leadership, and payroll decision-makers in your network to bring in new business.
- Handle the full sales process - finding leads, understanding what clients need, negotiating deals, and closing contracts - with a goal of landing the first 3 clients within 90 days.
- Work closely with our operations, product, and compliance teams to make sure we can deliver what clients are promised.
- Set up a simple, consistent sales process: keep the CRM updated, track your pipeline, and share regular updates with leadership.
- As the team grows, hire and guide the next set of sales and account management team.
- Attend HR events and industry meetups to get the Great Kapital Payroll brand recognized and well known.
Qualifications and Experience:
- 8–15 years in B2B sales within payroll processing industry with one of the leading (top 5) companies.
- Demonstrated ability to carry and close deals: multi-year contracts, 200+ employee companies.
- Has a portable book of relationships — CHROs, HR Heads, Finance Directors — that you can engage within 30 days of joining.
- Strong knowledge of Indian payroll compliance: PF, ESIC, TDS, PT, gratuity, labour law nuances.
- Entrepreneurial stints or prior experience in an early-stage payroll/HR tech venture will be an added advantage.
- Graduate/ Post Graduate from a recognised institution.
Location: Bangalore, with travel as required.
Reporting to: Dual (Great Kapital Sales Head & Chief Executive Officer).
Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience. For the right candidate, compensation is not a constraint.
