Position Overview
We are seeking an exceptional Insurance Business Solutions Group (BSG) Head to lead the pre-sales, solution architecture, and offerings creation for our Insurance business globally. This is a high impact leadership role combining industry expertise, solution architecture excellence, and proven large-deal management capabilities. The ideal candidate will drive pre-sales, architect complex deals for insurance clients, and lead a distributed team of solutions architects and pre sales professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Business Development
- Pre-Sales Strategy: Define and execute pre-sales strategy aligned with Insurance business objectives, identifying growth opportunities in target segments (P&C, Life, Health, Specialty Insurance)
- Large Deal Leadership: Lead end-to-end pre-sales execution for enterprise-scale, complex insurance transformation initiatives globally, from opportunity assessment through proposal and solution architecture
- Market Positioning: Develop compelling value propositions specific to insurance domain challenges (digital transformation, policy administration, claims automation, underwriting automation, data & analytics, fraud detection)
- Client Relationship Building: Build and strengthen relationships with insurance C-suite (CIOs, CTOs, Insurance Product Heads, Chief Digital Officers) and drive solution articulation
Solution Architecture & Technical Leadership
- Complex Solution Design: Design end-to-end solutions for large scale insurance transformation programs, including policy administration systems, claims management, underwriting platforms, and data/analytics capabilities
- RFP & Proposal Response: Lead technical proposal development for large deals, ensuring solutions are commercially competitive, technically sound, and aligned with customer objectives
- Insurance Domain Expertise: Leverage deep knowledge of insurance business models, regulatory requirements, product lines, and operational challenges to design relevant, impactful solutions
Team Management & Enablement
- Team Leadership: Build, develop, and lead a distributed Insurance BSG team including Solution Architects, Pre-Sales Consultants, and Business Analysts
- Capability Building: Identify skill gaps and drive training/certification in insurance domain, solution architecture methodologies, and sales excellence
- Performance Management: Set clear performance metrics, monitor KPIs (deal conversion rates, proposal quality, team productivity), and drive accountability
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Sales, Delivery, Practices, and Ecosystem teams to ensure seamless transition from pre-sales to successful delivery
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 15 years of professional experience in BFSI with at least 8-10 years in Insurance domain
- Minimum 6-8 years in pre-sales, solution architecture, or enterprise consulting roles focused on insurance transformations
- Proven track record managing large deals (minimum contract value $2-5M+) for enterprise insurance clients
- Demonstrated expertise architecting complex, multi-module insurance solutions (policy administration, claims management, underwriting, billing, data & analytics)
- Experience with global insurance operations and understanding of insurance business models across P&C, Life, Health, or Specialty insurance lines
- Leadership experience managing pre-sales teams and mentoring solution architects
Domain & Technical Knowledge
Insurance Expertise: Deep understanding of:
- Insurance products, underwriting, claims, policy administration, and billing processes
- Insurance industry regulatory frameworks
- Insurance-specific pain points and digital transformation imperatives
- Major insurance players, their IT strategies, and typical IT spend patterns
Solution Architecture Competency:
- Proficiency in designing enterprise solutions (design thinking, requirements analysis, trade-off analysis)
- Cloud architecture knowledge (AWS, Azure, GCP) for insurance workloads
- Understanding of insurance software platforms (major players: Salesforce Financial Services Cloud, Guidewire Policy Center/Claims Center, INSR, EIS, etc.)
Emerging Technologies: Hands-on or consulting experience with:
- Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning applications in insurance (claims prediction, fraud detection, customer segmentation)
- Data analytics and business intelligence for insurance
- Cloud-native architectures and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
Sales & Business Acumen
- RFP/Proposal Excellence: Strong track record of winning large, competitive bids through compelling technical proposals and value articulation
- Commercial Awareness: Ability to understand customer business models, financial metrics, and ROI drivers; experience with deal structuring and pricing
- Sales Enablement: Experience developing solution collateral, customer case studies, and sales tools that accelerate opportunity qualification and conversion
- Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to negotiate complex requirements, scope, and contractual terms with senior client stakeholders
