Role Overview
The Head of Government Relations & Public Policy will define and drive the organization's engagement with Central and State governments, ensuring a policy environment that accelerates manufacturing scale, retail expansion, and supply chain efficiency. This is a high-impact leadership role requiring a hands-on operator with strong influence across ministries and state administrations, and the ability to convert policy access into tangible business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Central Government Engagement
- Lead policy advocacy with key ministries including Commerce & Industry and MeitY.
- Shape regulatory frameworks supporting manufacturing, e-commerce, and digital business models.
- Drive participation in central schemes including PLI and export-linked incentives.
- Track and influence regulations related to BIS standards, data privacy, and e-commerce compliance.
2. State Government Strategy (Telangana, Rajasthan, Haryana)
- Serve as the primary interface with state governments for large-scale manufacturing operations.
- Secure and operationalize state incentives across land, power, taxation, and labor frameworks.
- Drive end-to-end approvals: industrial licenses, environmental clearances, and compliance frameworks.
- Build deep working relationships with state industrial development corporations (e.g., TGIIC, RIICO, HSIIDC).
3. Manufacturing & Industrial Policy Leadership
- Influence infrastructure and logistics policies to improve ease of doing business across key industrial clusters.
- Support large-scale expansion including land acquisition, zoning, and industrial infrastructure development.
- Provide strategic advisory on labor regulations and workforce frameworks.
- Enable partnerships with state skill development bodies to build a scalable manufacturing talent pipeline.
4. Strategic Policy & External Affairs
- Build and manage high-trust relationships with policymakers, regulators, and industry bodies.
- Represent the organization in key policy forums, trade bodies, and government-led initiatives.
- Anticipate regulatory shifts and proactively position the organization ahead of policy changes.
- Develop a forward-looking policy roadmap aligned to long-term business expansion.
Candidate Profile
- Experience: 12-15 years of experience in Government Affairs, Public Policy, or Corporate Affairs.
- Manufacturing Pedigree:Mandatory experience in the manufacturing sector (e.g., Automotive, Electronics, Pharma, or FMCG). You must understand factory-level regulatory hurdles and industrial policy.
- Network: An active and credible network within the DPIIT, NITI Aayog, and key state-level bureaucracies.
- Education: Post-graduate degree in Public Policy, Law, Economics, or Business Administration.
Skillset:
- Ability to translate complex government notifications into business impact assessments.
- Experience in handling large-scale land/infrastructure projects with the government.
