About the Role
As Group Head, SEO, you will lead SEO strategy and delivery across a portfolio of brands, while building strong systems, people, and performance benchmarks for the function. You will be responsible for shaping SEO as a growth lever, partnering with clients and internal stakeholders to align on outcomes, and ensuring the team delivers consistent impact through technical excellence, content strategy, and modern search practices. This role demands a strong leader who can manage multiple accounts, mentor managers, drive governance, and build scalable playbooks, while staying ahead of search shifts including AI-led discovery, answer engines, and evolving SERP behavior.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Account Ownership
Own SEO outcomes for a set of key accounts and ensure delivery quality across the portfolio
Lead and mentor SEO Managers, Senior SEO Executives, and specialists across accounts
Build capacity plans, role clarity, and execution governance for predictable delivery
Drive client trust through senior stakeholder management and strategic planning conversations
Handle escalations, scope control, and delivery hygiene in coordination with account leadership
Support new business through pitches, audits, opportunity sizing, and solutioning
SEO Strategy and Performance
Build annual and quarterly SEO roadmaps aligned to business goals, seasonality, and growth targets
Translate performance data into clear strategy: content clusters, technical priorities, internal linking, and CRO-aligned improvements
Define KPI frameworks beyond vanity metrics, focusing on organic contribution to traffic quality, leads, and revenue
Drive competitive intelligence, opportunity mapping, and SERP share growth plans
On-page and Content Systems
Own content strategy from an SEO lens in partnership with content and creative teams
Define briefs that include intent mapping, SERP analysis, structure guidance, and internal linking plans
Ensure metadata, templates, taxonomy, and content hygiene follow best practices
Improve user journeys and engagement signals through UX collaboration and content experience improvements
Deliver monthly performance reviews and quarterly strategy reviews for internal and client stakeholders
Technical SEO and Platform Excellence
Lead technical audits and prioritize fixes across crawling, indexing, rendering, CWV, architecture, and schema
Partner with development teams on requirements, implementation validation, and release readiness
Ensure SEO readiness for migrations, redesigns, CMS changes, and large-scale deployments
Build SOPs for technical monitoring, issue escalation, and quality assurance
Off-page and Authority Building
Define ethical and scalable link acquisition strategy aligned to brand and category
Oversee competitive link analysis, link gap planning, and anchor strategy
Ensure tracking and governance of outreach, partnerships, and link hygiene
Monitor risk factors and ensure compliance with white-hat standards
Reporting, Governance, and Training
Build reporting templates, dashboards, and narratives that connect SEO work to business outcomes
Ensure every account has clean documentation: trackers, audits, roadmap, meeting notes, and action logs
Conduct internal trainings and enablement sessions for SEO and cross-functional teams
Create case studies and internal knowledge assets that elevate Schbang's SEO positioning
Business and Team Management
Manage team planning, hiring support, performance reviews, and skill development roadmaps
Own P&L basics for the function or portfolio as applicable, including utilization and resourcing hygiene
Identify upsell opportunities through audits, platform insights, and performance gaps
KPIs
Organic growth impact demonstrated through measurable improvements in traffic quality, leads, or revenue
Portfolio delivery health: on-time execution, reduced rework, clean governance, and stable stakeholder satisfaction
Team capability building: trainings, playbooks, quality benchmarks, and manager maturity
Published proof of work: case studies, award participation, and visibility assets (as per internal targets)
New business support: pitch contributions that convert into wins or measurable pipeline movement
Skills Required
Strong command over SEO: technical, content, and authority building
Strong grasp of analytics and performance measurement, including GA4 and Search Console interpretation
Ability to troubleshoot ranking and indexing drops in fast-moving environments
Strategic thinking with strong execution governance and prioritization skills
Strong stakeholder management and client communication, including presentations and decks
People leadership experience managing managers or leading multi-brand pods
Strong documentation and process orientation with an ownership mindset
Working understanding of website events, tracking, and basic code or technical documentation
Good to Have
Experience handling ecommerce SEO and marketplace ecosystems
Familiarity with CRO and experimentation thinking to improve organic conversio outcomes
Exposure to modern search shifts such as AI-led discovery, answer engines, and structured data strategies
Experience leading SEO during migrations, redesigns, or CMS transitions
Awards, published case studies, or speaking/training experience
