Nomura Services India, (Powai) supports Nomura's businesses around the world. Powai s world class capabilities in trading support, research, information technology, financial control, operations, risk management and legal support have played a key role in facilitating Nomura's global operations and are an integral part of Nomura's global expansion plans. The Powai operation is a critical part of the platform to support the growth of Nomura's global business.

Division Overview

We are currently looking to recruit an analyst for our Global Markets Division. Based in Mumbai, the front-office team which works on a team extension model delivers pricing, modelling and risk management expertise to the Global Markets business. Founded as a center of excellence, the group leads the way in price discovery and portfolio optimization techniques and is integral to the business aggressive revenue targets. The team is playing an integral role in structuring, pricing, risk management and new idea generation.

Business Overview

The role is in the Asia Ex-Japan (AeJ) Corporate Derivatives Trading team in Powai. The desk works closely with private and public side structuring team and investment banking coverage team to provide structured equity linked financing solutions to various types of clients such as Corporates, Private Equity, HNWIs and promoters of listed companies. This involves fundamental equity, credit and technical analysis of companies, understanding the risks in complex financing and derivative products and pricing of those products, in addition to trade booking, ongoing monitoring as well as handling post trade issues.

Position Specifications:

Corporate Title: Analyst

Functional Title: Corporate Derivatives Trading Analyst

Experience: 1 - 2 years

Qualification: MBA from a Tier 1 college and CA/Engineering

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Working in close synergy with global trading desks and sales teams facing dynamic markets and aggressive deadlines
  • Pre-trade – Equity, credit and technical analysis of companies, sector and macro overview, assisting with pricing complex financing and derivative structures, and assisting with the review of finance documentation and the structure of margin loan terms
  • Post trade – Trade booking and monitoring the portfolio stocks for business performance, company/sector/macro news
  • Automation – Developing analytical tools and reports and maintaining deal data
  • Ad-hoc data analysis, regular trade and book reviews

Mind Set:

Key Skills:

  • Understanding of Equity markets
  • Understanding of fundamental, technical and credit analysis of companies
  • Understanding of financial statements and various pricing/valuation methods for companies
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Understanding of Derivative is a plus
  • Strong communication skills
  • Creative problem solver
