Role Summary
Red Fort Capital is hiring a hands-on Manager - Finance / Controller for its RBI-registered NBFC business focused on secured MSME lending. This is not an audit-led role. The company needs a finance and operations leader who can run the finance function, control cash flows, ensure costs are correctly captured, strengthen MIS, support lending operations, and maintain disciplined financial controls in a growing NBFC environment.
Ideal Candidate Profile
• Has worked inside an NBFC, lending company, fintech lender, secured lending platform, MSME lender, or similar financial services business.
• Has personally owned accounting, monthly close, cash-flow monitoring, disbursement/collection tracking, payment controls, cost reporting, MIS, and management reporting.
• Understands that finance is not only compliance; finance must help management see costs, margins, cash movement, portfolio economics, and operational leakage.
• Can work closely with credit, operations, collections, business, compliance, lenders, auditors, and senior management.
• Can operate in a growing, entrepreneurial NBFC where speed, accuracy, ownership, and process discipline all matter.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Operations & Controllership
• Own day-to-day finance, accounts, controller, and reporting functions for the NBFC.
• Manage monthly closing, ledger scrutiny, accounting entries, reconciliations, provisions, accruals, and accurate financial reporting.
• Ensure accounting accuracy across loan disbursements, repayments, interest income, processing fees, charges, overdue amounts, collections, expenses, and vendor payments.
• Develop and enforce finance policies, SOPs, approval workflows, payment controls, documentation discipline, and maker-checker processes.
Cost Accounting, MIS & Business Finance
• Build cost-center reporting, expense allocation, cost reports, variance analysis, departmental cost tracking, and portfolio profitability reporting.
• Identify cost leakages, incorrect allocations, unusual expenses, delayed collections, and operational inefficiencies; recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare financial statements, monthly MIS, budgets, forecasts, cost dashboards, profitability reports, and management packs.
• Translate financial data into clear insights for budgeting, pricing, capital allocation, cash planning, and operational decision-making.
Cash Flow, Treasury & Lending Operations
• Monitor cash flows, payment planning, disbursement schedules, collections visibility, treasury support, and bank/lender coordination.
• Track loan-level and portfolio-level financial data to show income, overdue balances, repayments, costs, and profitability.
• Work with credit, operations, collections, legal, compliance, and business teams to ensure finance data accurately reflects business reality.
• Support lender reporting, bank coordination, debt servicing discipline, and internal financial controls required for a growing lending book.
Tax, Compliance & Audit Coordination
• Ensure timely compliance with GST, TDS, Indian accounting, NBFC reporting, statutory filings, and applicable tax requirements.
• Coordinate with auditors, tax consultants, regulatory advisors, banks, and lenders as needed.
• Audit coordination is part of the role, but audit-only experience is not a substitute for hands-on finance operations, cost accounting, and controllership experience.
Minimum Requirements
• Qualification: CA / CMA preferred; B.Com or equivalent acceptable only with strong hands-on NBFC finance and controllership experience.
• Experience: 5+ years in finance, accounts, cost accounting, MIS, controller-oriented roles, or finance operations; 5-8+ years preferred.
• Industry: Prior NBFC / lending / business loan / secured lending / MSME lending / financial services experience is required.
• Strong practical experience in financial controls, reconciliations, monthly close, MIS, budgeting, reporting, and cash-flow management.
• Deep working knowledge of cost accounting, cost centers, expense tracking, allocation methods, variance analysis, and profitability tracking.
• Working knowledge of loan accounting, interest income, collections, overdue tracking, charges, disbursement accounting, and portfolio reporting.
• Good knowledge of GST, TDS, Indian accounting, tax compliance, and financial reporting requirements.
• Strong command over Tally or equivalent accounting software, Excel, MIS dashboards, and reporting tools.
• High attention to detail, ownership mindset, process discipline, and ability to work across finance, operations, credit, collections, and senior management.
